Hugh Acheson is a culinary genius with a heart of gold. I bought this cookbook without looking through it and was thrilled to death with what I found on arrival. I will be bringing this cookbook with me to the Netherlands as a little piece of home to give to my host family. Especially love the sweet photos and anecdotes from his precious family. Overall, truly wonderful purchase!

Although the cookbook was different from what I expected, I enjoyed reading through the mouthwatering pics and recipes immensely. I've been trying some of my family's southern favorites, with the innovative twists and new ingredients, and have gotten rave reviews. Some of the more exotic ingredients are a challenge to find at my local stores, but well worth the extra effort.

I love this cookbook. I have made a number of the appetizers and drinks and whenever I get started then I want to change my whole menu to make only his recipes. Some can be labor intensive but fun for special entertaining. Also, it is a pretty book to leave out.

I'm a big Hugh Acheson fan, and even more so after using this book. From collards to brussel sprouts and great pickled okra and green tomatoes recipes, there isn't a thing I've made that I've been disappointed with. The book has a wide range of recipes and includes helpful tips. I highly recommend it.
