As I've read the light novel, I could see myself relate to Hachiman Hikigaya on many things. For me, high school life was alright, but fun, and Hachiman's inner monologues throughout the novel remind me of how I used to think back then; I couldn't help but feel nostalgic.
The characters are quite peculiar. Aside from the cynic Hachiman, fellow Service Club member Yukino Yukinoshita is a beauty, but has a harsh, cold, and blunt personality. But despite that, she is smart and honest. And then there's Yui Yuigahama. She can be bubbly and cheerful, but lacks self-confidence and goes with the trend only because she wishes to be accepted by others. The dark humor between the trio outcasts are pretty funny, especially when you add in Japanese pop culture references in to the mix.
I enjoyed this novel far more than I expected. I'm looking forward to read more of this series.

The media could not be loaded. The first volume of Oregairu. It's definitely a great series in my opinion and this first volume is great! It even came with a poster that was super awesome and unexpected on my end. Very glad with this purchase.

Reading a book is hard enough, but reading a book with no fantasy, violence, mystery, or adventure tags is especially hard. Being a fan of yahari, i was able to read this book because i knew what happen prior to reading it. it is spoils, but it was the only way i can read this book. It was really great, but if i didn't watch the anime, this would be hard to read. I just got so bored at times. I know a book depends on your imagination, but i was jsut bored. NOTE This is coming from a person who never reads books, just manga and anime. Also, i usually only watch the above tags i mentioned in the first sentence. I hardly watch slice of lifes stuff, so this was a hard read.
This is a great book. It's not just for everyone.

Read in one day. Not your typical rom-com, but fun to read. I was born and schooled in the US, but this high school loner's experience hit home.

In a genre filled with reincarnation and harem light novels, I believe that Oregairu is just simply a good book. With an enjoyable protagonist, who never ceases to entertain himself, as well as the readers. With a good down to earth story that doesn't sugarcoat nor overplay situations, and good, slow characterization. Everything in this book just comes together to make a ,quite simply, good book. If your tired of seeing the same overplayed scenarios, then try yourself with this book. It has a digital edition now (finally) so there's no excuse to give it a try.
