What I love most about this learn-to-play piano book is that you do NOT have to know how to read music to get started. The book takes you through the very basics in the first couple lessons. You learn the letter of each key on the keyboard (which you can label on your own keyboard with a crayon) and good piano playing posture. You then go through the first few lessons playing three note songs, some on the right hand and some on the left. The left hand practice is what I'm most intrigued about because it was, as a right-handed person, my most difficult hurtle in trying to learn piano. In chapter three, you learn simple songs using both hands.
As you progress through the book, the lessons gradually get more and more complex. You'll learn about intervals, rhythm and meter, and the different types of musical notes. Eventually you get in to music theory and learn how to read music on three different types of staffs. By the end of this book, you probably won't be Mozart, but you will definitely know a little more than just the basics of piano playing.

I am amazed at how quickly I was able to begin to learn to play the piano. There are some people who say that you get to a point where you are too old to learn. I think this is a myth, especially when using this particular resource. . You should definitely give it a try. I love Little Piano Book.

I found the lessons easy to follow and was able to quickly understand something that previously was completely foreign to me. I also loved the video instruction that was provided. It helped me build confidence in what I was learning. I also found the book and lessons easy to navigate. The great thing about Little Piano Book is that it is perfectly suited for all ages. It is not too hard for little ones, yet as an adult, I was able to enjoy and learn from the lessons as well. It is a great and inexpensive way to follow your dreams of learning music or to give your children quality musical instruction without the hundreds of dollars in formal classes. I am extremely pleased with this book and am excited to try the other books in the series.

This book is wonderful for a beginner! Great, and easy to follow. For me, I am not looking to become a concert pianist, nor am I looking to be a great scholar in music. I was looking for something that can be easily accessible, and maybe help me learn a song or two, and this is great! Not only does it include a number of pictures that make it easy to follow along on your keyboard or piano, but it also has a whole set of video instructions as well! All I did was hook my tablet up near the piano, and it was like having an instructor right there!

The other thing I love about this book is that it is no frills: it tells you exactly what it is and it does that. It has a number of diagrams, plus my favorite part, a song list at the end of each chapter to look to to reinforce what was taught in the lesson.

Again, exactly what I was looking for: easy, accessible, and not some book drenched in theory that only true musicians would understand

My six year old has been interested in learning to play for quite some time. I played as a child, however it has been difficult to sit down with him to go over the basics since it has been so long. I downloaded the Kindle version of this to my phone and am so happy with the lessons!
You do not need to have any musical background to use this book. The youtube videos have accompanied the book wonderfully! My son and I have gone through the first two lessons together so far, and now each day he wants to come home and play the piano! I love how he begins the lessons using numbers for each finger and teaching basic position without really needing to know the notes. Finger position is very important but this method has simplified things for my son..... He does not listen to me, but for some reason when he sees it in the book and on the videos he finds finger position very important!
If you are an adult who wants to learn the basics, or wants a tool to help teach your child I highly recommend this book!

I give it five stars because this little book helped me understand something that I wanted to do for the last 20 years...I not only can play the piano but I understand what to do with each hand I tried a couple of left handed lessons (I'm a leftie) first, then I tried a couple of right handed lessons. The great part about this book is that I could do it like that.... Now I know more than the Middle C scale. I want to be able to write music; with this course I should be able to do just that! Thank you Damon Ferrante!

I now know about hand positions and finger numbers, Middle C, and Good posture at the Piano (so very important, why should something that is so much fun cause your back a lot of pain?) I also finally understand how the keyboard works, I also played Springtime and Dancing, In Winter and A Mystery. I feel like Billy Joel!!!

After many days and so much money wasted on lessons...I wish I had this book 20 years ago....
