... a piano teacher of 20+ years and I have enjoyed getting to use this book with my students
KatBerg✓ Verified PurchaseOctober 4, 2017
I am a piano teacher of 20+ years and I have enjoyed getting to use this book with my students. The first thing that is really important to understand is that this is NOT a lesson book or a music book. This is meant to supplement other books, other lessons. (They also offer a lesson book that has video lessons to go along with it as well.) Here are some of the things that i like about this book:
1. When I am teaching scales and other techniques to my students it often seems like all the instructions I gave them disappeared from their mind. With this book there is a secondary reinforcement once I have left the building. If they cannot remember what we talked about they can look at the lessons.
2. Sometimes hearing different concepts explained multiple different ways helps it to sink in.
3. It reinforces some of the harder concepts of music theory that they don't always get or understand right away.
4. I love the improv sections. It is a fun way to add improv to my lessons with my students and although I cannot bring an entire band with me, this gives me the next best thing.
Things I would love to see changed/improved:
1. Right now the videos take you to YouTube. I envision a time when they will be able to play right in the book and what is already a strong book will be even more improved.
2. I would love to see more improv lessons with a little more explanation for those who are going it alone.
Excellent integration of technique and theory

As a person who has struggled to integrate technique and theory, I was pleasantly surprised by this e-book. The videos and book complement each other nicely, and the combination of explanation and demonstration adds clarity to the teachings. Most of all, I felt that the way it was done was superior to what I had seen in the past. I wish I'd had access to something like this earlier in my life--I think it would have greatly accelerated my progress in piano (and music in general).
I think that this e-book and video system is going to be helpful whether I move on to do more piano technique work or to music composition endeavors. Furthermore, getting such a good technical and theory-based foundation on the piano will definitely provide transferable music skills that can be applied to learning another instrument if I wish. Also, I had the privilege of getting piano lessons as a child, but I am happy to see that there is this excellent, more affordable option for those who might otherwise have no such chance.
Great costumer service

Great costumer service! The seller said she would send me a cd with lessons as a gift since I wrote him that my kids were debutant. The cd is actually great It helped them a lot to learn with the book. It was nicely packed and arrived on time.

This looks as if it might be just for beginners, but it has sections that even more advanced pianists and keyboard players can use. I am a pianist at the high intermediate level, and I found much here that is useful: finger exercise (we all need them), basic theory (which I never got in my lessons) and a glossary of terms. I also play keyboard, and there is excellent material for that instrument. I would recommend this for anyone's personal library and especially for music teachers or parents that want to teach their kids like me.
Great for New, Returning or Self-Taught Players

The eBook is easy to understand with great diagrams and pictures. The videos are detailed and also very easy to understand. The book along with the videos are the total package; all you need to get started playing piano. This series is great for the new and returning player. Also great for those self-taught players who need to improve on technique.
I have always wanted to learn piano, but could not afford lessons. Now I have the tools to teach myself in a very affordable way. It starts with technique and scales at the beginning leading to more advanced components in music theory.
Friendly, Entertaining, and Informational Book

This Piano Scales Book is Friendly, starting from the Basics all the way up to Advance. They go from Finger positions, motions, postures, to Music Theory and different types of Clef to make anyone who is willing to learn Piano Highly easy to do so. If you want to jump right into the fray of Piano playing and techniques, this will help you start where you need to be at. With each Lesson having its own video and friendly instructions, it makes even me who has trouble with the finger positions along with each key strokes, has lead to me being able to play my favorite songs without must trouble. Which I am still going through the book myself, I can at least play a few scores from Harry Potter without much trouble. The Videos they've presented with each lesson is pleasant and capturing to the eyes, with a smoothing voice behind each lesson, that leads to no drowning and boredom that most people feel during a classroom. With Damon showing us how each lesson is meant to be, its very easy to stay on track and keep on track.

Each Lesson shows where the finger positions should be located, what the lesson will be concentrated on and a video below so everyone can not only see, plus hear what each lessons means but they get a way of how playing the piano should be. Once you start going through each lesson, they have you start from Level 1, to Level 5 which means your basically able to start your own style of piano after level 5 Advance Piano techniques. I'm currently on level 2 which I start with multiple major cords and scales, it keeps on advancing as you go throughout the book. Take your time with each lesson till you basically can do it with your eyes close then continue to the next level. With a book both entertaining and informational it will only take a short time to fully learn the Piano.
