Painful. Excruciatingly painful.

Never have I read a book so well researched, so scathing truthful, so full of pain, wretchedness, and cruety. I read quickly, usually. This 850+ page book is not read quickly. I would read a chapter, maybe two or three, and then could not read any further for perhaps a week. Sometimes longer.

On continuous narration of the gathering of the Jews to not only isolate them, but to systematically exterminate them and try to avoid leaving traces. Very detailed and informative. This is book is long, but understand this book can only cover a small part of this mind boggling and disturbing history.
this felt like a day by day accounting of the holocaust

this felt like a day by day accounting of the holocaust. there was no real unification of the material except chronologically. it became very repetitive and as much i read about the holocaust, i became bored by the way the material was presented. great research but no soul to the book.
Never Forget

This book is well written with many first hand accounts of one of the most horrific times in history. It says volumes about what people are capable of doing. My mind couldn't even comprehend how evil these people were. How the world stood by and let this go on for so long is beyond belief. I think this book should be required reading in every high school in America. We should not be allowed to ever forget this lest it happen again.
A difficult book because of the subject matter

An amazingly detailed and comprehensive account of the Holocaust. It was difficult to read because the documentation of the brutality of the persecution was so sickening. It's quite eye-opening to learn just how low people can sink within a brief period of time and profoundly disturbing to realize the oppressors were not all that different than the people around you today.
