Well done. A must for a home mechanic trying to escape the financial tyranny of the local BMW dealer. Even if you know what you are doing beforehand (spark plugs) you probably wouldn't know the proper torque values. Also helpful in determining wehther it is my job or a real mechanic's job.
A front brake job quoted as $707 from the dealer was done for about $60 for pads and fluid. Rotors included in the dealer's quote weren't required.
The $60 includes my usual charge of $0 per hour for my labor.

Freedom from over priced BMW shops if you have any mechanical skills. You will still need some specialty tools but between YouTube and this manual you can save a small fortune.

If you plan to keep and maintain your Z3 then this book will allow you to do lots of maintenance and repairs yourself rather than paying repair shops. Get yourself a foxwell NT530 scanner as well to help read service codes, and reset alerts.

Like most things in the 21st century I wish this didn't cost so much. But if that really mattered the 14-year old Z3, which has been sitting in my garage since early December is probably a bad idea. On the other hand it won't take much gleaned from this valuable source of information to pay for the book. The authors are pretty clear about shade tree mechanics not getting in over their heads, but the specs and directions are very clear and a few simple repairs done at home rather than at your neighborhood BMW dealership will save you a pile. Get it.
