Must read for bird lovers

Bought this used and I am very pleased with the prior usage. Information is really excellent. I keep it on my desk for reference. I use it to plan for the upcoming season. Yes, much of the information is on the internet but this volume is SO easy to locate important details on a variety of birds. I do not take this in the field a bit too large. Use it for a wonderful reference and you will be pleased.

This is absolutely the best "bird" book I've seen for someone who likes birds and wishes to help them survive throughout the year. It gives you recipes for bird and squirrel food beyond store bought seed. Tips on growing different types of plants to supply your "friends" with safety, nesting material, and food. The topics are alphabetical. But it is enjoyable to read from the first page to the last with a list of names of providers you can contact to help you. After reading this book you are more than adequately endowed with the knowledge you need for any bird/squirrel situation you find yourself.

I love the format of this reference guide. Yes, some of the information is nothing new to anyone who has been enjoying feeding birds in their backyard for awhiile. But it's easy to use, there are lots of illustrations and photos and you can find plenty of new ideas to enhance your bird-feeding and -watching pleasure. I first found it at the library and liked it enough to buy it.

After my pussycat died, I hung two suet feeders and a mixed seed feeder. I vowed no more cats after years of loving them because now I wanted to feed the birds. Well, they came in droves...and so did the squirrels. I like watching them too, but I knew I had to get some control so I wouldn't end up in the poor house. I just didn't know what to do. I bought The Backyard Feeders Bible and it is the best book!!! It is loaded with advice, examples, practical tips, and humor. My brother-in-law also bought a copy after looking at mine, and he's been an avid backyard birder for years. Whether you are just discovering the fun of feeding birds in your backyard, or have been enjoying this hobby for a long time, this is a fabulous source of information for everything from squirrel management to planting a bird-friendly haven. And, it's also an excellent read!! Sally Roth is now my "go to" guide!!
