This is My Go To Book!!!
Rebecca A.✓ Verified Purchase•April 21, 2014
As with her first book which I gave 5 stars, this one will be right along side the first as my go to books for my natural hair care. I felt it covered every problem, issue, and question that could come up for natural curly coily kinky hair, the information is so excellent that I read the book over and over again because it's an enjoyable as well as educational read. In all seriousness every 'hair natural' needs to read this (whether they like to read or not), your hair journey will be a more enjoyable and easier one if you do.I have read several books on the care for natural hair and her two books are listed at the top of my favorites. I'm already looking and hoping that she writes a third (I gave this book 5 stars, but 5 stars does not do it justice, I rate it a 10 Star!!!....good job Audrey!
Every Woman with Textured Hair should own this book

Want to fix your strands? Empower your edges? Get a hold of this tome for tresses!!! I loved how she covered every type of hair and acknowledges that all races can have textured hair types and the best way to help your hair get to beautiful status. She also breaks it down scientifically so that you can make better product choices for your type overall. Add the resources for different products to use as she helps you build a regimen and I'd say this book is worth it's weight in platinum, gold, and uranium. Yes.. my review is crazy.... but the book is CRAZY good.
a must read

I was so clueless regarding my hair. It wasn't until it started shedding excessively that I decided to research the cause and how to prevent it. Luckily, the cause was postpartum, however my research revealed extreme neglect. After watching a YouTube video, it's narrator suggested The Science of Black Hair book, so I went ahead and purchased it. Wow I couldn't believe all the abuse, because of lack of knowledge, I put my hair through. Since reading that book and mostly following it's guidelines along with information from YouTube videos, I have retained about 5 inches in less than a year. Now that was awesome coming from someone with relaxed, bleached, and permanently colored hair. Still, sometimes, I would like to get rid of that portion of my hair to have a healthy look all the way to ends of my hair, but I desire length so I'm always looking for ways to keep and improve it. So I bought this book. I really love it!! It does overlap some info from the previous book, but I like that this book is more current with its product guidelines and also gives you broader info. on different hair and scalp issues. This book is for everyone. This author is also amazing. I really love the way she conveys the material; addresses our imperfections stating we will do damage to our hair from time to time, but give us options on keeping its peril at a minimum.

There was good information but I have the Science of Black Hair so there wasn't much new. I read the reviews that said the Science of Black Hair was a more comprehensive book and that it made the Hair Care Rehab book unnecessary. I saw that Hair Care Rehab contained information on scalp issues that the Science of Black Hair didn't delve into much so I thought it might be worth a read. If you have the Science of Black Hair, you probably don't need Hair Care Rehab unless you're interested in additional information on specific scalp problems and treatments. For general hair care information, this book is an unnecessary companion to Science of Black Hair, especially since it's not specifically for Black hair care.
Very good reference book for problematic hair (complements Science of Black Hair)

The book is really informative about different hair/scalp conditions...the causes, how to resolve them and how to prevent them. Unlike the Science of Black Hair, this is not exclusively for people with Black/Afro/textured hair. this is a great guide for anyone dealing with breakage, dryness, hair loss, etc. As someone with relaxed hair dealing with issues like breakage and itchy scalp, I think this book does complement the Science of Black Hair very well since it is more detailed about specific hair problems. It is a great reference book as well for treatments and causes behind less common hair problems.
