As someone who doesn't drink whiskey often due to having some poor personal experiences, I was looking for a way to get back into enjoying it. I was introduced to this and was pleasantly surprised by how well the author manages to explain not only the history of scotch, but also ways for an amateur like myself to better understand the interacte details and flavor palletes associated with it. Great entry point for beginners and veteran scotch drinkers alike.

After roughly 6 years of drinking scotch, I bought this to attempt to refine my palate and expand my knowledge of scotch. I found this book (currently very well priced) to add both value and enjoyment to the scotch I drink. After all, why drink scotch if you don't know what to look for? Micallef's writing style traps the reader's interest, while providing a rich and vibrant history. Cheers!

Fantastic read for anyone who enjoys a good glass of scotch for a night cap or if you are a once a month scotch drinker with friends around the poker table. Highly recommend this book for everyone interested in learning more about the history of great scotch!

Excellent foundation for learning whiskey.. I like whiskey but wanted to learn more about how to get more out of the taste. Great book for you if you like whiskey for more than just the buzz. For me, reading this book was indeed time well spent, and it has greatly deepened my knowledge and understanding of the subject matter.
