Lots of stuff about publication...may be more than you're looking for in an APA guide for college papers.

It's pretty comprehensive...has a lot of stuff about publication...and publishing...as well as the usual APA punctuation and grammar rules for the style.

If your an undergrad student...this manual may be more than you're looking for when it comes to writing college papers.

A lot of what this book has, and more, can be found on "Purdue dot edu" for free. And, it's comprehensive as well.

If you're looking for a quick reference...I recommend APA: The Easy Way by Houghton and Houghton. I have grown to appreciate it's simplistic approach to the APA basics .

Hope this helped...
Still needed and still valued.

The fourth edition of the APA *Manual* is, despite some of the flaws others have noted, very useful to those studying or working within the social sciences. While our current breed of word processing programs have indeed been a great benefit to academic writers, we cannot forget the orgins of academic writing linger from long before the computer age. This book offers a complete and varied guide to how to write for a field of disciplines. I would compare it to the *American Medical Association's Style Manual* as I also use this reference quite often in that both books truly offer a great deal of information that is useful in science-related writing. We are lucky to have something that is this complete.
This is a bootleg

This is clearly photocopied or scanned and reprinted. I intend to contact the publisher to alert them to the suspected-pirated copies. As for the publication manual as a reference, I need to look up several citation specifics online. For example, this book was useless for citing a TED Talks video or a class syllabus. I only wanted it because it's "required" for a class.
Reject/ Flawed copy from Newbooksworld?

The spiralbook bound copy sold by NEWBOOKSWORLD was not an accurate copy of the APA.If you look on Page 198 and look at the sample citation for Journal Article with DOI, you might see that the title of the journal is not italicized (for some copies it is like that), which is the proper APA format. I'm not sure if I just got a reject book or if it was an error in printing. I've compared it to other classmate books and mine was wrong. I don't know if I can trust this copy of my APA book that I received from NEWBOOKSWORLD to reference for my papers now. ALSO, SOME PAGES OF THE book did not print cleanly, like the ink from the previous page transfered onto the next page.
Terrible on Kindle app

Specifically, the Kindle edition of this style guide is a disaster. It's hard to use search. It's hard to read due to its small font size, and -- unlike other Kindle books -- there is no immediate way I could see to change the size. The entire work is formatted like the print edition, but on a small screen like the iPhone, such a format is all but useless.

Worst of all, the Kindle edition does not work with Kindle's online reader (read.amazon.com), which is where most people using this book would probably use the Kindle edition.

I've returned the ebook version and will purchase a print copy (oh so 20th century!) at a later date.
