This book is terrific! So many presentations on planned giving are highly technical and text heavy. Russell James has a different approach that is fresh, clear and very understandable. This book can be a very valuable tool for non-profit professionals starting or refreshing a planned giving program - particularly if planned giving isn't the only hat they wear!

I highly recommend this book to students, professors, and anyone else interested in the field of charitable gift planning. Dr. James does a great job of explaining the different aspects of the law and the taxes that relate to charitable gift planning in an inventive and interesting way. If other textbooks were written more like this one, I guarantee more students would actually read their textbooks. Even though Dr. James is an expert in the field of charitable gift planning, he is still able to translate the information in a format that students can actually understand. Overall, job well done!

This book is a primer on charitable gift planning for both the student and professional. It is an an overview of the topic in a clear and concise manner. Like any good primer it presents the material in a readable format that is easily understood. Dr. James is nationally well known as an expert in the field. I highly recommend this book!
