Great experience!

There are a few spelling errors which I didn't enjoy while educating my child, but I read it with her and some of the words were difficult for her anyway so she didn't notice. I'm wiccan, and her father is an atheist, and this book was great for her. We wanted her to know that she has lots of choices for her religion and that none need to be made soon. Reading this with her was a great experience. She's a second grader and it was a little challenging, but nothing defining a new few words couldn't fix. My favorite part about this book is that it covers more than the typical Christianity, Islam and Judaism.
I am kind of disappointed. This book is poorly edited

I am kind of disappointed. This book is poorly edited. It say Judaism is the oldest religion at 4000 years old, then says Hindu is the oldest religion at 3000 years old. It talks about 4 main rules for Hindu, then lists 2. I am glad it was only $5. The other reviews shock me.
No bad..

No bad... the book isn't very engaging for youngsters, not much color or great graphics. My grandson is 7, we hit the highlights of each paragraph but didn't read it thoroughly, maybe later. He was interested to learn that others do not believe as we do which was the point and opened up the dialog and that was my main goal. I'd like to find something similar that would wet his appetite to learn more about each religion like their specific holidays, traditions, maybe include photos, maps etc...
Very well researched treatment of the world's religions

People believe in religion because it gives hope and meaning to their lives. I liked how Shalu Sharma, the author explained how God is different than religion, and that some religions don't have God or gods as the center of everything and don't include belief in God as the creator of the world and the universe. I knew quite a bit about Christianity, Hinduism, Islam and Buddhism but nothing about some religions like Sikhism, Bahai, Confucianism and Shinto. I was happily surprised that Wicca, Shamanism and even Atheism was included. At the end of her book, the author mentions that it is up to us to decide which belief system makes sense to us. On a personal level, Taoism seems to resonate with me, but as she says, it is up to the individual to find whatever it is we are looking for.
Not what I expected / not completely accurate

Most people fear what they don't understand and often many religions are misunderstood due to many interpretation. Also, has a household that has two parents from different religious backgrounds, we wanted our daughter to learn about the different regions around the world along with ours.
This book is cute but it states that several religions with the phrase, "Is the oldest in the world" which means there in no other that is older. But it does this with 3 different religions when can only be the oldest. Maybe I am a stickler for accuracy? In addition there are not great pictures and it is a bot wordy. May this would be better for kids who are doing chapter books with no pictures?
This book is a nice introduction but, I will be seeking out others books that do a more complete and accurate representation of each religion and this had ben added to our list of things we will be selling at our garage sale. Bought this Dec. 2014
