I absolutely adore this cookbook. My wife and I have a fairly large collection and this has come to the top of the rotation in short order. We've made 8 recipes so far and every single one has been a banger. There are a few spices you might need to pick up, most are available at a well stocked grocery, a Middle Eastern market, or in a pinch online. Lots of vegetables, particularly eggplant, which my wife doesn't typically enjoy but for which she has developed a taste. I would recommend this if you've got a vegetarian or vegan in your life; while not a vegetarian cookbook it does have quite a few veg friendly entrees and sides. The author's prose is warm without being superfluous, which is a rare balance in a cookbook. The photography is excellent, and every recipe has a photo. I could not recommend this more highly.

This is a gem of a book! Everyone buy it and gift it to someone too. The recipes are divine and the pictures are beautiful.

Palestine on a Plate needs to be a staple for all households no matter what culture you are from. I am Palestinian and could not live without eating our food daily. Unfortunately, our mothers and grandmothers cook without measurements so it's so hard for them to teach us. Joudie's book allows us to cook all our staple dishes with the exact recipes. My 12 year old daughter loves cooking from Palestine on a Plate. We have so much fun and when we create these amazing dishes, it helps instill our traditions in our children. I've also purchased several of these books for friends who are not Palestinian because they love our food. They actually cook more than we do and always send me photos of their dishes. Palestine on a Plate is a book you can pass through the generations. One of our favorite dishes is Kousa Bil Laban, maklouba and Warak Inab Ma' Lahme Wa Kousa and for dessert we love banana & Medjool Date Cake. This book is not just a recipe book; it's a history book with recipes and love. This book is truly needed for everyone who wants to explore our beautiful history and for all those who love our food. If you are a foodie, get this book ASAP.

I think I might be the world's most ghastliest cook. A true disaster in the kitchen! When I bought this book I wondered if it would be yet another gorgeous cookbook collecting dust on my bookshelf. This book has never been closed since I bought it last month. I have post it notes and a pen in it, taking notes and have tried so many receipes in there-all of which have surprisingly been so successful. The receipes are written in easy to follow and very clear directions with not too many steps and the photography is excellent. I am now cooking these wonderful dinners every night that are fairly easy and extremely flavorful. This book is magical. I really hope this chef is working on writing another one.
