As someone who's decided to get into copywriting, I think this is one of several good books you could start with.

Copywriting can be defined as being able to use words to persuade a person or demographic to be aware of or to buy your product. Or simply: being able to write well to sell lots of shiz.

Now, I like to think that I'm getting better as a writer. I've sold a lot of stuff at auction sites and have been able to command higher prices simply by being able to use words to convince people that it was worth it. So, of course, if I were to learn some tricks of the trade in copywriting, I would be able to do even more (UNLIMITED POWWWER). That's where this book comes in.

Copywriting was on my to-do list for some time. It was only when I went into a used bookstore that this book stood out (among a dedicated section for writing/copywriting). I took it as a sign and bought it. I immediately began absorbing the topics and lessons on how to be a great copywriter.

In no particular order, some highlights: 1) I learned what the ingredients are for creating successful copy; 2) A well-defined creative brief is essential; 3) Writing for different industries have vastly different challenges; 4) Lose your ego. It's not about your personality, it's about the voice of the brand you're selling for; and 5) Less is more.

This was a great start to learning new skills. If you are interested in more books about copywriting, I also suggest The Copywriter's Handbook, and The Adweek Copywriting Handbook. Knowledge is power, get some of each. Recommended.
