Today is my grandson's fourth birthday, and he is delighted with his new roundhouse. He and his father were busy setting up his tracks and putting trains in his new roundhouse when I talked to them on the phone.

Keep to the wooden items that don't have all the flashy battery powered gizmos and you'll keep these items forever. I have a Thomas set that has been passed down to us. It is worth well over $2k and the items are about 15 years old. They are played with all day, every day and stand the test of time.
This is the newest edition and I trust it will keep just as long. The items are expensive, but worth the investment!
