This is a HEAVY duty sander. It has worked well and I have used it hard sanding a deck. It heats up to the point of not being able to touch parts of it but it has not let me down and had done a very good job.
It is not light and handy but it is a powerful machine, heavy duty and built well if that is what you need.

I buy hundreds of items annually from Amazon annually and rarely write a review. However, in the case of this sander I wish to do so. It arrived in 2 days and was ready to go on the project. I had to catch up with it! Over the course of 4 days I stripped 5-6 layers of paint from my wooden deck with this powerful tool. I used it almost non-stop for 25 hours over those 4 days. In many respects the weight of this machine did the sanding. I sat back and maneuvered the machine and it did the work. Of course, sanding is sanding and with summer temps above 90 every day it was brutal. But this sander did the job quite well. Easily worth the price when one considers the value of their time saved. Highly recommended.

This is my first Makita product and woooooooow I'm very impressed. We were using a rigid sander before and this makes the rigid feel like a cheap piece of plastic. This thing is so powerful it literally drags me across the floor if I'm not careful lol ( I'm also pretty light weigh) but damn. I love the long cord, tracking is reliable and I'm a big fan of how I can sand right up against the edge of the wall. I haven't used the dust collection in combination with a vac but the build in functionality is also surprisingly good at catching dust. When you use a heavier grit and there's a lot of dust it does begin to have a harder time keeping up but that's to be expected. I'm very happy and this is my new favorite tool.... for the moment ;)
PS: this tool is very heavy. I personally like that as the weight of the sander is perfect for sanding without any help from me.

The power and ease of use is nothing less than what I would expect from Makita. It made short work of my 12 year old deck. I probably took of more than an 1/8" to get it back to real wood again. Was it easy? No but without it I don't think there is a better option. I would buy this sander again in a heartbeat. Of course all my power tools are Makita because I like quality and that's what I expect from them. This sander was no disappointment.
