Excellent

Great flashlight! On full focus this led model has a perfect spot beam capable of reaching hundreds of yards. I bought the silver one to make it easier to find in the dark if dropped ect. With an advertised battery life of 80 hrs, this light will always be ready. Update: after using this light once, the rubber on off button fell off twice. It's easy to get back in but could be lost exsposing the electronics to water. Still a good buy but kind of disappointed considering the overall build quality is great otherwise.
Mounted in my truck

I bought this flashlight to be a dedicated truck light and so far it's working out really good.
Maglite makes some great products that I've been using for 30+ years.
I bought some Maglite Black Universal Mounting Brackets for D-Cell Flashlight, 2 pk and mounted the light under my glove box using existing screws.
My only minor complaint is a little bit off rattling that comes from the flashlight when driving over bumps in the road.

Not As Bright As Expected
Morris Workman✓ Verified Purchase•October 16, 2017
I've been wanting one of these since my days in law enforcement, more than 25 years ago. Finally bought one, it's not very bright (compared to today's little LED lights). Also, brightest part of projected light has a big black hole in the middle. You can focus it out, but it narrows the beam badly. Overall, disappointed. Should have opted for LED version of MagLight.
6 D-Cell is now 178 lumens

I love the red 6 D-cell version - an awesome beauty to behold. Note, at the time of this review (Oct 2017), the product description for the 6 D-cell (with Krypton bulb) showed 136 lumens. That's no longer correct. As you can see from the attached picture, it's now 178 lumens, assuming you don't order from someone who sends you old stock. Mine will soon be 290 lumens - after replacing the krypton bulb with an LED Cree XP-G2 upgrade.Maglite LED Conversion Upgrade Cree XP-G2 290 Lumen Bulb 3 to 6 D or C Cell Flashlights by UpLED
Update: The krypton bulb was successfully replaced with the above LED conversion and the brightness increased noticeably as expected.
Update 2: I decided to install the Terralux TLE-310M-EX mod. This gives me about 800-1000 lumens. The Terralux installed easily.

I was always jealous of my uncle for his cool maglite, so now he can be jelly of me. Trust me it's for the best. The beam is wide and decently strong, so it met my expectations really well. It's also pretty heavy, so it would definitely hurt. I think that's why guards and law enforcement are known for using them, religiously according to any film with prison guards in it, or spy movies, etc. Incandescent is kinda going out, so the modern solution is the Xeon light, which the package stated. I ordered it as a incandescent though, but I wouldn't mind a free light bulb. (;
