These exact type of adjustable screens have been in use in our house for decades; I don't know if the once this new purchase is replacing are made by Frost King/Marvinm, but they are constructed exactly the same way aluminum framing except to the left and right end pieces which, for some reason are wood instead of metal. And while the original ones we have are at least 25 years old and have held up all these years, these from Frost King came out of the box with the screen mesh pulling out of the wood on one side and the metal frame on the other, about an 3 inches of screen material dislodged from it frame. Because of the relatively low cost, I decided not to bother sending them back -- paying for shipping and the hassle of bring that big box back to but worked the screen back into the frame and dripped Gorilla Glue in the groove, hopefully it will hold the screen material.
Also, the two wood ends look they they are raw, untreated wood, not wood that has been treated to be water repellent. I don't see how this will stand up to weather, especially getting wet with rain year in and year out. This looks like a soft wood at that, like pine.
Do I think these will hold up for 20+ years like the originals -- that remains to be seen, but I wouldn't bet on it. Quality control isn't what it used to be.

Cheap & Poorly Made

Screen arrived with the edges of the screen not attached to the wood frame OR in the metal ends of the sliding part - basically the screen was attached to the frame on top and bottom, and in only a couple of 1" spots along the right/left edges. It's more of an inconvenience to mail back at this price, so I will keep it and try to repair it myself. Not exactly pleased with the quality of this because I can see it will be used for this summer and thrown away.
Good quality

I wanted a screen with a wood frame to put in front of my regular screen for extra protection for the kids, and for the cat, who likes to sit on the windowsill. Over time, the regular screen was getting pushed out. I replaced the main screen, but bought this to keep it from getting damaged again. I love it! It fits nicely in the groves behind the window and in front of the regular screen. I can shut my window without taking it out. It glides open nicely, and I love that it's made in the USA.
Con: The only think I wish it had was a locking device, so it will stay where you put it. I stretched it open, and I think it would stay in place. Most people probably would probably be fine with it as is, but for me, with the kids, I'd prefer if it could lock in place. I taped it in place so it can't move.

Perfect screen for a condo window. My windows are quite wide (47"), so this adjustable screen was the answer. I do have the screens that came with the condo/windows. The original screens are a pain in the butt to put in and take out....they also harbor bugs in the sides. This adjustable screen is great since I don't really open my windows that often, but when I do, I can chose when and how long to have them open. Great idea and a super product.
Perfect fit

This is exactly what I wanted it wasn't broken and it's doing exactly what it's supposed to be doing. I got one at Home Depot the darn thing was all bent up and didn't work at all it was a completely different brand. This once sturdy and it's just perfect thank you so much. I am using mine lengthwise in my son's roomy. If you are a mom you know why my son needs to keep his window open!!.
