Let's be honest ...

OK, right up front, let's call this what it is. It's a royal rip-off. $18.95 for a moulded piece of rubber that probably cost a nickel to produce in China is obscene. The only mitigating factor is that the small end fits my Makita BO4900V full pad sander perfectly. And it stays put when I am sanding. The large end I adapted to fit my small (1-7/8) shop vac. It is the only solution I could find. So I bit the bullet and bought it. It works ... but I still feel like I was charged a completely exorbitant price for this item.
What is this rubber piece of JUNK?

This is not that adaptor! Item that arrived was an approximately 4" section of rubber tubing VERY poorly cut at each end off of a no-doubt larger rubber tube. Its not an adaptor at all, let alone the one in the product description or photo.
Works with Dyson Turbine Tool!

I bought this to use a Dyson Turbine Tool with a regular canister vacuum and I am happy to say the adaptor works great! That tool is the best I have found for cleaning pet hair off the furniture, so when I lost my Dyson in a divorce, I was delighted that I could still use the tool with a regular (less expensive) vacuum. It can loosen a bit with heavy back and forth motion, but I just retighten it (I'm sure there would be a way to fix it better, but haven't felt the need yet).

I needed to adapt the 1 1/4 hose nozzle of a Dayton Vac to the dust pickup nozzle that comes with a Black and Decker Firestorm Jig Saw. Based on helpful information derived from my posting a request for the actual O.D. of this adapter, I ordered one, and it is a perfect fit for my needs. The Dayton Vac hose nozzle fits snugly into the second largest step (this adapter is made of flexible rubber, but it is very sturdy). Then the O.D. of that same step fits snugly into the pickup nozzle on the jig saw. I will try it as it is, but if the smaller 2 steps prove to impede the dust pickup I can cut away the unused steps and make it into a dedicated compact adapter sleeve.
Fits Festool 36mm and 27mm Dust Extractor Hoses

I absolutely love my Festools - So I've got a Festool Dust Extracter to work with them.
But... I also have several "other branded" tools that I really like and use.
I've looked for several years for a way to attach my Festool 36mm Dust Extractor Hose - To my Bosch 5412L Compound Slider Miter Saw.
The "sliding" - Back and forth - Of the saw - Makes keeping a good hose connection difficult.
The large end of the Fein Step Adapter fits perfectly OVER/OUTSIDE the Festool 36mm Hose end - And connects perfectly with the saw -
As is - Without any cutting or taping.
Also... I realized that the same large end of the Fein Step Adapter fits perfectly INSIDE the Festool 27mm Dust Extracter Hose end - As is - Without any cutting or taping. A great "bonus find".
Glad I bought two. And I'll buy a couple of more of these.
