Firstly let me say that I did not make my original purchase of this unit at Amazon but at a department store over 13 years ago and at the time it was more than 4 times the price. With that said this is a very reasonable price for something that has held up incredibly well with pretty regular use. For those who tried to do chocolate fondue in this pot, you cannot do chocolate in a traditional Sterno fueled metal pot! You must use a ceramic fondue pot which has a better insulation factor to keep chocolates and cheeses from burning. Those are usually warmed by low steady heat from a candle. Cheese needs to be mixed with white wine or kirsch to make it creamier and helps reduce it's ease of burning. Metal pots such as this are for meats. Instead of oil, try chicken broth with an assortment of lean cuts of chicken, pork and beef along with shrimp and scallops for something truly amazing and actually healthy. For those of you doing cheese in this pot (I wouldn't recommend it)use a small candle instead. Also according to tradition the crust of cheese in the bottom of the pan is peeled off and eaten for good luck and has the texture of a cracker and it quite delicious! If your crust is burnt to the bottom and you can't get it out you are using the wrong type of fondue pot with the wrong type of heat source.
Fondue Fanatics Centerpiece for Fun Dining with Flavor to Spin!

I can't understand the other people who have reviewed this product and seriously considered themselves serious fondue experts. First of all, you will scrape cheese on almost any fondue cooking pot unless it is electric if you do not maintain the flame or heat properly. Some people forget to do this while enjoying fondue with cheese and chocolate because there is usually a party going on. I prefer to use this one with oil and cook meats and vegetables using the lazy susan to provide all the various dipping sauces my guests could possibly desire. As the Roshco lazy susan fondue set serves as my dining table centerpiece, I add an electric one on either side for the chocolates and/or cheese if that is on the menu. Lets just say, I never have an issue with temperature, cooking issues and the parties are always a hit. But, most importantly, I never scrape cheese. This Roshco Stainless Steel Lazy Susan Fondue Set is a quality set and has not only been durable, cooked well and attractive as a bonus, everyone in my family has one as our Christmas tradition is fondue and when I received mine from a friend for my birthday, I bought every member of my family one as well after they came over for a night of fondue and loved it. It not only gets five stars from me, but the sibling and her supreme critic, the one who taught us all to fondue, Mom. I hope if you are lucky enough to receive one or buy one for yourself, you enjoy it as much as we do for the style, durability and cooking element it is to the serious fondue lover!
Do you like scraping cheese for hours?

This pot is terrible for cheese fondue! As soon as you remove the heat when finished, the leftover cheese will solidify and it's an epic battle to scrap it off afterwards. Soaking the pot doesn't help either.
