I actually ordered the wrong item. They were what I purchased.
Excellent!

Worked perfectly! Just be sure you're putting them where they belong, because that adhesive backing is tenacious once it's attached. Excellent!
Self-stick is the way to go

It took me approximately forever to realize that these self-adhesive fasteners are vastly superior to the older 2-piece design with the locking bar. Yeah, they're a little more expensive, but it's really worth it.

The only think I would change about these is to make the adhesive stronger... they have a tendency (at times), to come away from the folder. I often use tape to bolster them when I am putting the folders together, just for added security. But these fasteners help with the costs of office supplies, because when you get them pre-made, they cost three times as much. It only takes a few minutes to put a folder together with these.
It DOES take a bit of practice to get them centered correctly, so that the pages enclosed in the file don't get folded over and such, but once you get the hang of it (after one or two, it's easy) you're saving money and they are every bit as useful as the ones that come with the fasteners already installed. I think they are worth the few minutes it takes to put them together.

Good but easy to make mistakes

These are great to use with regular manila folders for my medical files. I bought them separately because the price for the pre-made is so much higher and I open new clients on a regular basis. The only trouble I have is placing them too close or too far from the inner fold of the folder. A couple of my first attempts look rough and the documents are all bent out of shape. The actual product is super strong and stays put and seems like quality adhesive and strong metal.
