Decent stands for the money
Are KJanuary 17, 2018
Decent stands for the money. Look nice. Wife approved. These stands seem to be made out of softer MDF and will crack if you are not careful in assembly. Heeding the warning of other reviewers I resisted the temptation to assemble with a power tool. I got out a plain old phillips screwdriver. I opened the box and discarded the instructions. Guys do that. I then put the screws into the holes in the base and started them into each of the two vertical pieces. I did not torque them down at first but stopped when the vertical pieces mated with the base. After that I did the same with the top piece and after they were snug I torqued them down but not too much in consideration of the apparent softness of the material. Finally I tightened down the screws in the base. Despite my best efforts one screw cracked one vertical at the base in a small way . It in no way detracts from the functionality or the look though. They work well and I have my older JBL's on them that weigh 20+ lbs. each. They are very stable. 4 stars instead of 5 due to the fact they are not a real polished product but they work. I'm ok with them for the price.
Not a bad budget solution, but look elsewhere for your investment

Not awful but not great. If you're already spending a decent amount of money on speakers, up your investment to get the most bang for your buck. These would be okay for cheap Logitech speakers but don't throw any KEFs on them.

PROS:
1. Cheap
2. Easy assembly, less than 10 minutes
3. Does have cable hiding abilities
4. Somewhat low profile

CONS:
1. Cheap feeling, could've bought something similar at IKEA
2. Small base, make sure your speakers are within 2" of the specs.
3. Inconsistent manufacturing. One of mine had holes that did not line up with the hole properly and caused structural integrity issues
4. Pegs do not settle on carpet properly. Very forward leaning.
It is sturdy, takes less than five minutes to put together

I am using these as a HOTAS stand for a Saitek X-55 HOTAS controller. I use double-sided sticky tape to keep the controller securely taped to the stand.

If you are looking to do the same, then be aware that the bottom needs to have some weight added in order to avoid movement, but putting your foot on it helps too. I cannot knock this product though, since this is not its intended purpose. It is sturdy, takes less than five minutes to put together, and it looks good. It's the perfect height to go alongside my chair. I'm 6'3", so if you're any taller it will be too low. If you're under 5'8" it will probably be too tall.
Assemble these properly for a more sturdy stand...

These are pretty good speaker stands IF you take the time to assemble them right. The problem with these stands is the soft MDF (LDF - light weight?) wood these are made out of. Using some Gorilla Glue or contact cement where these parts meet will make them last much longer than simply screwing them together and expect them to last very long. I've bought two pairs of these over the last 5-6 years - one pair for my son and a pair for myself. My son didn't have the patience to glue his together - I put mine together with the same 2 part epoxy I use for assembling golf clubs. It's probably overkill since Elmer's or similar wood glues will probably work just fine. The vertical supports will split out eventually without gluing them together. My son has fire wood - I've got a decent pair of speaker stands. These aren't a heirloom product in any case.

If you have small children in the house these are not something you want to place a heavy speaker on unless you can somehow anchor them down. Either get tower speakers or figure out how to hold these firmly in place.
Good speaker stands for the price

These are good speaker stands for the price. Assembly is simple and takes about twenty minutes using 16 supplied phillips head screws.
The bottom plate is over 12" wide and the top plate is a 6.5" square. The wire management is a bit of a joke if you try to go through the hole in the top plate as it is too narrow to accept banana plugs. However, the picture on the Sanus box clearly shows the speaker wire coming out at the back of the stand where the plastic insert is.

I got these stands to help unclutter my home office. With the MDF construction they're pretty sturdy, adding an affordable touch of class to my budget sound system.
Recommended for medium sized bookshelf speakers weighing less than twenty lbs.
