Not the best option for big pot brewers
David BFebruary 15, 2018
During the week I brew a 4 cup pot with either Folgers of the occasional ground bean of choice. No issues at all.

On the weekends I like to brew a large strong pot of coffee using my ground beans. So we're talking 8-10 cups (by pot marking) and 8-10 tablespoons of coffee, depending on how strong I want it. It will overflow every single time because the basket is unable to drain quickly enough due to the solid bottom.
Don't Forget This When You Order a Mr. Coffee Pot Without A Filter--A Must-Have Item...And Price Is Perfect!!

If you love ease when making your coffee, buy this today!! I finally ditched my carafe pot Cussinart coffee maker for another glass pot Mr. Coffee and since I hate coffee filters, this is the perfect $6 addition to any coffee maker that uses a filter!! Easy to clean, makes coffee taste better than a filter and fits my Mr Coffee perfectly. I may just get an extra to have on hand...Yes..I like it that much!!
Leaves a film on coffee

This filter leaves a film on the top of the coffee after brewing. I don't know why or how but it is certainly the filter as the paper filter does not leave that gunk on the top of the brewed coffee. Two stars because it does fit the coffee pot well and I don't notice a huge difference in taste
simple. quality. $ saver.

Paper filters are great and all, but I like a little bit more of a rough grind. I use more beans, with a rougher grind, and less water. This gives me a much smoother coffee without losing out on any caffeine.

For my purposes these permanent filters do great. I use a quality burr grinder that lets me set my grind large enough that I don't get any sludge in my carafe.

This is a must have if you want to save on filters and care about quality coffee.
Okay Filter

This basket has the hard bottom in it. I find that it is awkward to clean for re-use. There is a screened bottom version which I think would probably wash out better. It does a good job of filtering the coffee, but I can't help but wonder if it doesn't make the brew a little more intense flavored compared to the screen bottom unit.
