It's nice and heavy and works as advertised
Comedy EnthusiastSeptember 12, 2016
This vise is built fairly well. It's nice and heavy and works as advertised. Here is the but....The tolerances are somewhat sloppy. There is definite play in both directions. The slop is about 1/8" to 1/4". I was able to account for the slop, but it made using the vise cumbersome and increased the time to complete the task. Also, you need to hold the X and Y axis levers so that it doesn't veer off the path too much (which makes it a pain).
Buyer Beware

While using it today the bolt that goes through the plastic handle fractured off. It's too late to return it by 10 days (April 30, 2016 was last day.) Cheap Chinese mim metal (it was porous on the inside). I have used this vise very little and I am greatly disappointed. When you use it everybody knows that very little pressure is put on the handles the move the vise around. This is obviously a factory defect and someone needs to be held responsible. I had only used it 3 times on polymer.
OK for the the money
Amazon CustomerApril 24, 2016
Pulled it out of the box, bolted it down on the drill press table, and used it. Works fine. Loose fit, quality doesn't look great, the black handles are cheap plastic and don't know how long they'll last but that can be easily addressed when they break. It seems like it will hold up. If it does, for the money, it is a good choice.
Both of the threads for the x & y axis ...
BrianApril 3, 2015
Both of the threads for the x & y axis were crooked and the nuts were not on straight. I didn't open it right when I received it and now I can't return it because it's pass the 30 day policy of amazon.

There is also a lot of slack in the x & y axis. It is not responsive when you turn the dials, you have to turn them almost 360 degrees before it starts to move.

Do not purchase.
Reasonable price and quality.

The only reason I didn't give this five stars is the amount or work it took to clean it up and smooth everything out. For the price it is a very good investment for anyone with a drill press.

When it came it was covered with heavy machine grease and was anything but "smooth". Travel had binding spots and just felt off to me. I took it completely apart and cleaned it off with mineral spirits, then gave it a light coat of machine oil. Then I spent a lot of time with wet or dry paper polishing all the travel surfaces. Putting it back together was easy and so was adjusting the slides.

I've only used it a few times, so far. But there is no slop in the travel and the head stays firmly in place. I am not saying that this is a piece of precision use equipment, but for the casual user that wants some control at a reasonable price, you can't go wrong. Just be ready to spend a little time working out the rough spots.
