The cedar is of very high quality, and has a very strong but pleasant scent. It is decently sized, and the tools it comes with are of high quality, being that they are Allen Edmonds products. Take care when handling this valet, the cedar is fragile, if you keep it on the floor, and accidentally kick it, the cedar is prone to splitting. For something a little more utilitarian and slightly cheaper, I recommend the Kiwi Select Shoe Care Valet if longevity is a concern, although I find the included Allen Edmonds wax and brush of much higher quality than kiwi. I don't like the way this closes, most have a latch to keep it securely closed, the reason this doesn't have one is because of the porous, brittle nature of high quality cedar, a latch system would definitely lead to splitting of the wood.
Decent sized box made of good cedar that releases a lot of scent.

Good quality very floral cedar box. Releases a lot of scent. Filled a walk in closet with the smell of cedar over night. I really liked that. Sizing is exactly right but the measurements are for the exterior of the box which makes the interior about 3/4-1 inch smaller. It is not a large box, so if you're planning on putting an entire leather care kit in it NOT GONNA HAPPEN.
My plan is to purchase a few more of these one for cordovan, one for brown, one for tan and neutral, and one for cleaners like saddle soap leather honey etc. Set up that way it will be a perfect leather care kit: good size, not too heavy when used individually and I think it will look pretty sheik in the closet.
I took some of the neutral paste wax it comes with and lubed up the slide rails on the lid as it can get a bit sticky and I took some graphite to the locking button on the underside of the lid.
Overall pretty happy with it.

It's great! I put more product in there so it's roomy. I can really care for my shoes now. At 2-3 hundred bucks a pop I need to make them last. The only down side is my friends yelling "hey, go get your shine box". Jokers.
