unusual combination, works well.
Peter OgdenDecember 16, 2016
I'm very happy with this sander.

12inch disk sander is a must have. Anything smaller seems too small of a working area.

The nice thing about this product is the combination of disk and spindle sander. This is a hard combo to find, but it's really nice to have. Typically combo Sanders are belt+disk, so if you already have kne of those, this complements it well by giving you a second large disk sander for keeping a different grit paper ready.

Dust collection on the disk is pretty good. The dust collection on the spindle is mediocre. There are two independent ports, and both are sized for a shop vac.

I was disappointed that the Lowe cabinet does not open, so rather than providing storage, it is just wasting space. Additionally, it's easy to drop the spindle sander plastic inserts through the storage slots on the base, and since it does not open, they can be difficult to retrieve.
Pretty simple machine

Pretty simple machine, the reason I love it is that's it's a space saver and gets the job done. Could use one larger spindle (my free standing one came with a 4" spindle and a larger table) but I've found that the larger spindles don't stay in balance as well anyway and seem to put undue stress on the spindle. All in all, I knew what I was buying here and I've got no complaints. If I need a larger spindle, I've basically got that on the end of my Jet oscillating edge sander, which by the way is a pretty huge value at half the price of the Shop Fox.
A Great Sander For The Money

A Great Sander For The Money.
We picked this sander up at the Bellingham, WA warehouse.
I'm not one for free advertising what brand is on my machinery ( unless it's made in USA) so I tossed the Grizzly die cast plaque in the trash.
I also didn't like the idea of all that wasted space in the base, so I built a cabinet and wrapped it in 3 of the 4 base panels.
Now we have a drawer and cabinet to store the tools, sanding sleeves, sanding disks and band saw blades.
I didn't like the mobile base Grizzly offers so I put a Delta mobile base on it that has a single lever to make it mobile or stationary.
It's the Delta base that you add your own 1 1/2" X 1 1/2" hardwood lumber to it.
The only improvement I could see that would make it a better sander is, enclosing the spindle completely with a removable cover at the front as even with a Grizzly 2 HP

dust collector it doesn't collect enough dust. I did notice the steel tops scratch quite easily from sanding hardwoods.
Well built but could be better

This is a sturdy machine with well machined tables. It works well for curves and flat surfaces.
Aligning the oscillation sander was easy in the direction that has adjustment. However, 90 degrees to that required flat washers under the mounting.
Not all of the 4 1/2 inch sanding tubes are available on Amazon but I found them on the Grizzly site.
The gap between the disc sander and the table is excessive at 3/8 inch with table perpendicular to disc. This can't be made closer without some modification.
Both sanders work well. The paper provided on the disc is very aggressive so you may want to purchase a finer grit.
Noise is above what I expected but not annoying.
Great sander

I have struggled with drum sanders on my drill press for years. I also own a Delta 4" belt 6" disc sander which is pretty small for many of my projects. I recently decided to build a table using zebra wood for the top and walnut for the legs. I decided on curvy legs to go with the oval top. Once they were cut out on the bandsaw I realized I needed something better to sand the legs. I found this sander on Amazon.com and decided to order it to replace my belt/disc sander. I liked the idea of having the disc sander and spindle sander on the same tool to save shop space. I ordered on Monday and it arrived by UPS freight on Wed. I also received the extra sanding sleeves and sanding discs I ordered on the same day. That evening my husband helped me assemble it and I was sanding the next day! I did have to buy some PVC fittings to get the 2" ports attached to my dust collector. The spindle sander and the disc sander both work great--so much better than the drum sanders on my drill press. The machine is quiet and sanding is smooth. The only downside to this tool is the dust collection. More dust ended up on the top of the spindle table than in the dust port. I may rig up some type of collection for the top of the table. My only other problem was getting a new sanding sleeve on the spindle, but talcum powder made the job much easier. All in all, I really like this tool. I wish I had bought it years ago.
