I have been using this for years in smoothies and I liked it for its mild taste that could blend in with anything you mix it with. Recently, I had to send two back because they had a rancid smell and taste. I usually go through a tub of these every three weeks, so I knew something was off just from the smell when opening it. I also tried it but it tasted really sour. I ordered another one immediately but it was the same story. I'm not sure if it was a bad batch but both had the same lot number: LT 35617-4 with EXP 1/21. Either that or the formula has changed in a bad way.

I hope it is just a bad batch and would love to continue to buy this, but I can't right now.

UPDATE: It seems they have corrected this and reverted their recipe/process so that there is no longer the rancid taste. The last 3 I have purchased have been back to normal. The ones I've received have a big sticker on the side that says EXP07/2021. Thank you!

This Rice Protein Powder is pretty good. I feel a boost in energy after drinking a shake made with it. As far as the taste, all rice protein powders will have some degree of grit and a mild bitterness but that is the nature of most vegetable protein powders. Not everyone will like it since it is an acquired taste and I am getting use to it so now I actually look forward to my protein shake.
I do not eat animal products for ethical reasons and I also have food allergies which leaves me with very few food choices. I still need some protein to feel good and this Rice Protein is an alternative to whey protein powder. My digestion feels good after drinking this powder. I am thankful for this type of product because I am not too good at mixing foods to get a complete protein intake and this powder fits the bill for me to get all of my nourishment. It is also a very good value price wise.
To make my shakes I mix almond milk, sweetener, ice cubes, banana and some xanthan gum to thicken it. Sometimes I put a scoop or two of non-dairy creamer to make it smoother. I am going to experiment with other fruit and maybe natural peanut butter, almond butter, carob powder, etc.

Not sure how I've never written a review for this. I have bought and used this protein powder for a decade from Amazon. The taste is meh would not have it on its own. I use it in my oatmeal which I flavor with other things. I like it because it is low calorie for the protein and it's easy to digest for a vegan non soy protein. My one complaint is I wish the package was more sustainable. I'd love to see this brand switch to an oatmeal type cardboard canister to avoid plastic or use an aluminum canister.

I turned to rice protein as every other protein shake mix made me fart horribly with the whey and chicory root. This one tastes grainy alone but you don't notice it mixed with fruit and ice. And best of all no farting !!
