Great file for the price

Very fine file. Some "experts" say the Nicholson is not as good as Swiss and German files, but I find that Nicholson holds up well if you stay on top of the cleaning with a good file card and brush every time you use them, and provided you keep the files separated in your box so they don't bang against each other. Staying on top of these things makes the 50% lower price of the Nicholson well worth the difference in performance and life compared to Swiss and German files - for most every day jobs (except ski tuning) anyway.
Exceeded expectation

Could not be more pleased. It makes minced-meat of quickly and easily sharpening my Oregon hardened steal lawnmower blade.
Not an American product like the pictures show.

Looks to be a decent file. Only problem is if you look at the photo very closely, it says "Nicolson MADE IN USA" on the file. I was leery to purchase because a recent trip to Home Depot showed me that their Nicolson files are now a product of Mexico. When this file arrived, sure enough it said "Nicolson MADE IN MEXICO". I'm not necessarily mad that it's made in Mexico, I'm mad that they are using incorrect product photos. My only guess is that the product photos are old, back when Nicolson actually made files in this country. Funny thing is, I bought a PFERD 14" #2 flat file, cost me $12 and change shipped. File is stamped "MADE IN GERMANY". Now that's a country that knows how to make tools. Yet these are $15 and change for a Mexican file.
Excellent GP file

This is a general purpose file, not a precision or specially one. However, if you need to file a part flat, take a burr off, or sharpen a lawnmower blade, this is the one to use. Cut is controlled by the pressure you apply. The "coarse" teeth and chip-breaker design allow you to use this on soft and stringy metals like aluminum with better results than a standard file. Still made in USA. Just make sure you use a handle with it!

Top-notch product. Takes a lot of metal off, so be careful, but that's why I bought it.
