Worked Great in Germany
Fire hazard ,Zero Stars

Purchased 2 for a trip to England. One stopped working on day 2, the other on day 3. Overheated and started to melt. They were only used to recharge camera batteries. We are very fortunate we did not go to sleep with it plugged in. It would have caused a fire.
Don't use it with a flat iron, waste of money
BRBJuly 29, 2012
I essentially bought this converter to use with my sedu flat iron in Israel. It was completely useless. No matter how many times I tried to plug it in, it didn't work. Then I discovered that it's not recommended to use a converter with flat irons. Well, it would have been nice if that was in the description of the converter before I bought it, given that most of the electronics don't need a converter and you can use them just with an adapter. Save your money and don't buy it if you only need it for a flat iron.
Safe for curling iron use in Italy
PinheiroAugust 7, 2010
My husband and I just came back from traveling in southern Italy. I was nervous about using my curling iron because I read several horror stories about damage to your hair or curling iron if you don't use the "right" type of convertor and adaptor (not to mention fire hazard). I used mine several times with no problems. I did adjust the temperature to a lower setting than I use at home just to be cautious. Did not use with a hair dryer though (our hotels had their own hair dryers). The box is a bit bulky and heavy though. The kit did not come with any real instructions, so do your homework before you travel to know how to and when to use the converter with the adapter plugs. The plug adapters are clearly labeled however so it's hard to mess up.
Works Well In Paris
Ben FergusonNovember 19, 2009
My wife used this for a week in Paris to dry and curl her hair without problems. The high wattage setting doesn't quite get up to the 1800 or 1875 watts that some curlers and hair dryers pull, but it wasn't much of a problem. She did note that the curling iron didn't get as hot as it usually did, but I guess that's the point. Better safe than sorry. She's come home with melted curling irons on two occasions before this, so we were happier this time.

It's not the lightest converter in the world, but the box is fairly small overall, and much of the space is taken up by country-specific adapters, most of which you won't need unless you're traveling across continents. So, what you end up bringing on a trip is minimal: the converter itself and one adapter (if you need it; in Europe, with its recessed outlets, you will).
