Installed on a 2000 mustang gt 4.6 sohc. Often referred to as the one of the best sounding V8 engines
"Aint nothin like the sound of a mustang with flowmasters"
Well the flow masters sounded beautiful and "Tinny", but they droned so loudly at highway RPMS (1,900+ Rpm) even with the stock H pipe. Enough to make you go insane on a 3 hour drive.
I had an offroad H pipe with flow masters and the sound was ungodly, but unbearably LOUD. Felt like I was going to be pulled over any second.
Decided to put the stock H pipe back on and switch to a straight thru "M-80" bullet style muffler, basically a super fat glasspack muffler about 16" in length.
It was very deep and eliminated any drone and had a very aggressive deep growlm nice burbly idle, actually lots of gurgling and popping....however, getting older, I got tired of it just being loud all around. It was my favorite sound on this car, but cruising around at night in a quiet neighborhood felt very obnoxious. During the day it was tolerable and since there was no drone, I was able to have conversations in my car. Sounded extremely mean and loud, people would know you are pulling up.
To the real review: Thrush turbo muffler, the best of both worlds...
Do you want something quiet while driving , but loud enough to crack a smile when you mash the gas? Look no further,
This muffler has absolutely NO DRONE. It is extremely quiet at idle, I would say it would be 25% - 50% louder than stock, with a flowmaster being 100% louder than stock, and a Straight through "m80 style" muffler being 150-175% louder than stock.
From normal driving rpms 500-3000 RPM this turbo style muffler is quiet, don't get me wrong it is still somewhat loud, but not loud enough to make a cop turn their head.
3100 RPM and higher it has a decent roar, enough to know you mean business. However it is still significantly quieter than a flow master, I would say at higher rpms it would be 65-85% as loud as a flowmaster.
Aggressive, yet refined
Reason for installing: california exhaust laws (*vomit emoji*) has got me worried, up to 1000$ fine for having excessively loud exhaust, no more fix it tickets, just straight fines... up to the cops discretion of "loud"
FLOW: I somewhat feel it is a little more restrictive than a flowmaster, and going from straight m80 mufflers, I feel like at higher rpms it is somewhat "choked", however it could just be in my mind that it feels slower, just because it isn't louder
Maybe there is just a slight horsepower decrease, if hardly noticeable. The reduction in sound for my application was worth it. No more feeling like a jerk at 12 am or early morning shifts, and at $25 a pop and some elbow grease I am 100% satisfied

Installed on a Buick with 3.8L.
Works. Can barely hear the car now. Though that could be bc I've been driving around for almost a year with a muffler completely split down the side...
