Catches the shells just fine, however I haven't figured out the best way to clean it up. The mesh material is pretty thin, I snagged it while putting it on the cage one first use.

This net has been a life savor! It catches everything my silly cockatiels like to fling! I have two so they like to make a mess and since I got this I've not had to sweep around their cage due to seed mess!
