Caution, Need Brabantia Underlay?
SACD Audiophile✓ Verified Purchase•September 3, 2017
I thought this was the cover and padding. WRONG. If your Brabantia ironing board cover is ripped and making those diamond shapes on your clothes, you have to order the padding separately.
This is my first high quality ironing board, bought inferior boards in the past. I guess this is a learning experience for me, because in the past I'd just throw away the whole thing due to rust. After 3-4 years of ironing everyday on my Brabantia, NO RUST, just replacing the ironing cover and underlay.

Doesn't fit an 18" older Brabantia board.

This cover has no padding and barely fits an older Brabantia board. The string to use to close the cover over the board is extremely flimsy and broke. I ended up having to rethread it. The entire width of the actual cover is about 18.5" so on an 18" wide board you are left with less than a quarter inch per side. It needs at least another 1" - 2" inches in width to fit a 18" board decently.
The cadilac of ironing board pads!

I actually love to iron. I know in the world of normal folk that is an unusual trait. I even started at a young age, helping a neighbor who brought in ironing to make money. I've learned about how to iron things properly and have gadgets to iron sleeves and cuffs, etc. I own 3 irons. With all this said, you know my ironing board is IMPORTANT to me. It was time to replace my padding and get a new cover (just because). I read reviews and checked online and it all lead my to the Brabantia. Why hadn't I heard of this company before? So I purchased the felt pad and waited a couple of days in expectation until it arrived. I immediately opened the package and set it up. I found it easy to do. Just lay the felt on the floor (a clean floor of course), lay your folded up iron on top, mark it's boarders, then cut out. A perfectly sized pad for your board. Of course I had to test is immediately. If one could actually describe an ironing experience as sublime, this was it. It was the perfect thickness and firmness to facilitate an easy ironing experience. I happily, and quickly finished my ironing task, folded up the board, and now look forward to my next basket of laundry!
Seems like professional-grade stuff to me

This is very thick stuff--I measure it with my caliper at about 6.5mm, but that's a little bit fuzzy because of the squish factor (but it's close). If I pinch it as hard as I can between my forefinger and thumb I can squish it down to about 2+mm, ... but that is not a precise measurement. I have not used it yet for pressing, but did use it today to re-pad a small ironing board. It was easy to mark with a Sharpie, and then easy to cut with my fabric shears. I marked with a fat Sharpie and then cut to the outside of the line so that there's a wee bit of extra size on the pad to give it a slightly rolled edge. I would not recommend cutting it big and then counting on rolling it over the edge of the board because it's too thick to roll well that way. I tried that, BTW, and it was messy and unworkable, and so I re-did it--cut it down as detailed above. When it seems like time to re-pad the big ironing board I'll definitely come right back to this and buy it again.
Great Quality - did exactly what I needed

I had originally bought an oversize ironing board, but unfortunately the cover it came with was very thin and when ironing delicate items I was getting the pattern of the actual ironing board itself on my clothes!! Not a good look. I did a lot of research before buying this product as they are not cheap, but this is good quality and is a good size, cut it to fit my oversize board and is now doing just what I need, cushioning my clothes. Great buy and great quality item
