This thing makes the prototypical cabasa sound. It is the real deal. Other cabasas just don't sound right.
A lot of instruments in percussion land are variable-size. Triangles can be big or small. So can snares, tambourines, bongos.. but I would argue that there is only one size and one pitch that best represents the cabasa space, and it is here.

I bought this to replace an older other brand instrument that had rusted after the cat peed on it. I had always struggled with the smoothness of the previous unit. No such problems with this one. Smooth action, loud sound and ease of play. Not too big, not too heavy. Great instrument. Great tone. Handle isn't padded like my other one but is very comfortable. Tone cuts through the mix a bit better, too.
