I love K&M quality, but I wish this stand was just a hair more stable and sturdy. When I put my music books on it, it leans over from the weight. I love that it comes in fun colors to brighten up my day, but am disappointed the paint came chipped. It will be hard to touch up because the paint is such a special color.

I play 100 shows a year. I had a Hercules which lasted almost 500 drunken gigs. I slammed that thing in the trunk so many times I lost count. Also had a few "bigger" people fall on me and the mic stand. So why did I not go with the Hercules? After 500 gigs or so you learn that the telescoping boom is the way. I sit on a bar stool and sometimes I have to put the stand on the right inside of a corner so it cant extend much past the main pole so people don't jam my mic into my upper lip. That and the Hercules has to be readjusted after a while.

My beer and shot holder fit it well. The K&M is heavy so it seems sturdy. Super easy to use that any drunken musician can use it properly. Only 4 stars because I have yet to drop it out of a truck or run it over like the Hercules. I sure miss my old faithful but this K&M seems so fancy I would think Bill Gates would use her.

A well-made music stand, with great stability and good capacity for a volume of sheet music. I've been commuting with this stand for six months: the stand weight is reasonable and every joint and junction functions perfectly.

BEFORE opening the music desk, please take the time to follow the printed instructions or, for a visual how to, see YouTube @ "Open a music stand correctly - demonstration "“ video" (no need to listen to the audio track). Don't rush through it and after two or three times it will be easy to open and close. I found that the thumb screw that adjusts the angle of the music desk a bit awkward to tighten, but when it's set it stays tight and is easy to release. K&M Stands 10010 Music Stand Light

I bought this to replace my old stand that was falling apart. This one is built like a german tank. I am sure it will outlast anything you throw at it. Definitely worth the slightly more expense.

The photo makes it look as if there are some purple and maybe even orange bits to this stand. I dinged it one star for not having a true rainbow. K&M makes stands in all of the colors - why not assemble ROYGBV stands?

All of that said, this is a K&M stand, and even though it's the lightweight version, it is much more stable than the chrome-coated folding music stands of our youth. I've had a blaze orange one for years and only got this one because I wanted a rainbow stand for an upcoming conference.
