I bought this 3M brake cleaner to do several brake jobs on my cars.

Excellent product.

It's like using a pressure cleaning machine, blow off all the carbon, oil and dirt. Dry in seconds. I use it for my gun parts and chainsaws.

There really isn't much you can say about this. It's a can of brake cleaner. It'll work the same as any other cleaner out there. But, considering it's from a reputable company, it is sold at a decent price.

As for the uses of the product itself, it'll eat up just about anything. When used correctly, a can of break cleaner is easily one of your best friends when doing pretty much any product. It's good for cleaning brakes, but also good for eating away at any kind of nasty guck or grime you might encounter in your automotive adventures. Although I would not recommend anyone try this, I even knew a few mechanics who would spray a little bit of it on their hands to remove the grime stuck in their hands after working on their vehicle. Again, DO NOT TRY THAT, because it's meant to dissolve stuff, and that includes the stuff on your hands, and I'm sure it has some negative side effects when doing this (the guys I knew who did this weren't exactly the brightest cookies in the toolbox). But, it'll get the job done. I also find that it's fantastic for cleaning out sealed bearings, provided they don't have a plastic hub (the brake cleaner will eat away at the plastic).

In short, this is a great price for a brand-name product.

I am a big fan of 3M products, as they make superior products that you see inside households and on building and construction projects in industrial form. They are awesome. So with this experience I gave them a try with Brake Cleaner since I had a big project that was going to require a few cans of it.

My normal choice is usually the Auto Zone generic brand, which works great, or the CRC Brakleen brand if it is on sale. The difference is immediately noticed once you spray it - the 3M velocity is lacking. Yes, yes, the can may last longer due to less cleaner being jetted from the nozzle, but it seems to require more fluid overall because of the lower pressure. The difference is so small that you may not even notice it unless you compare them side by side, which I did. After exhausting the last of my 2 cans, I decided that I would just check for the sales at Auto Zone and appease my ego with the manly-turbo-jet-spraying effectiveness of CRC Brakleen. The cost difference is minute, but the speed at which oil, grease, grime, bugs, pets and the occasional nagging Wife are dispatched is worth it.

Note: The worst brake cleaner I have tried is the GUNK brand, chlorine free. I may as well have been wishing the oil away with that stuff. Stay away.

This is good brake cleaner, but I think this is pretty expensive. You could get a no name brand for half this price or less in the store, and probably a name brand for less than this also. Correct me if I'm wrong but brake parts cleaner probably isn't the type of thing that needs to be high quality or top of the line. If the rotor and pads are clean, they're clean. As opposed to let's say engine oil or something that goes in your car and you would care more about how high quality it was.
