Bought this to adapt a vacuum pump to my gauge ...
TOO MANY HOBBIESAugust 14, 2017
Bought this to adapt a vacuum pump to my gauge set, but found it is the correct adapter to allow my R12 Can tap to work with my R134 Manifold set!
A great item at a great price!

Had to do a little AC work and most of the time the adapter to the vacuum pump is gone....so I added one to my tool box and won't have that problem again!
One thing that is not mentioned anywhere...
R DJuly 2, 2017
I bought this adapter to adapt my Mastercool 84772 manifold set which uses the female ACME thread on the yellow hose to my vacuum pump which has a male 1/4" flare fitting. One thing that nobody has mentioned is that this FJC adapter does not have an insert in it; it is just a hollow straight through fitting. Most new R134a manifold hoses, including the Mastercool set I purchased, have a type of Schrader check valve on the yellow hose female ACME fitting. This check valve needs to be engaged in order for the yellow hose to flow vacuum or refrigerant. This check valve is meant to prevent refrigerant from leaking to the environment after you disconnect the yellow hose. The FJC 6014 adapter that I received did not activate or engage this check valve; so basically I had no flow across the hose when I was trying to pressurize my system with nitrogen for a leak test or when I tried to apply vacuum with my vacuum pump. I tried removing the check valve from my yellow hose set but I could not get it out. I ended up pressing a small hex nut into this FJC adaptor so that it would pop the check valve stem on my yellow hose. Now everything works. I believe Mastercool sells a similar adaptor to this one that has the insert in it to work with Schrader type yellow hoses and with hoses that do not have this check valve.
Single piece adapter with replaceable "O"ring. Minimizes the chance ...

Single piece adapter with replaceable "O"ring. Minimizes the chance of leaks, unlike some of the other units on the market. I also use this for the R-134 refrigeration tanks that have the 1/4" male flare fitting. These tanks are the ones that I get from the refrigeration supply house that used in the household/commercial appliance industry. This allows me to use either tank, whether they are from the refrigeration supply house or the auto parts store. This way I can shop by price and stock up without worry of the tank not being compatible with my refrigeration manifold gauge set!
Nice o-ring seal & well-machined.
J. TurnerJanuary 4, 2017
Nicely machined and has an o-ring to help seal without needing to really crank down the fitting with a wrench. And its only half the price of similar fittings at the parts house (and I don't think they have the o-ring seal).

This FJC fitting is much better than the old no-name adapter some jerk stole off my pump when I wasn't looking. I guess I get the last laugh.
