The point is not sharp...
Not as pictured or described
Amazon CustomerJuly 4, 2014
Sorry to be the odd man out here but what I received is different from the pictured item and the description. I added two pictures in the customer image gallery on the right side of the page. One shows the tips from the side and the other looking down from the top. They are NOT what I would call "sharp points" by any means and nothing like the points of the item in the picture. The tips are .066" (1.67mm)thick x .135" (3.45mm) wide and taper to a point via a 45 degree angle cut. The picture of the item shows a gradual and continuous taper to an almost needle like tip. That is what I expected to receive.

The tip points do not touch - they have a gap of about .004". The actual contact point is about .045" back from the tips.

Furthermore, they do not say "USA" on the tool beneath the tool ID - there is no indication of country of origin on the tool. The plastic bag they came in says they were made in Pakistan.

Contrary to comments in another review, I find the springiness of these to be somewhat soft and I can't imagine it hurting delicate brass screw threads.

There are no serrations or grooves on the inner faces of the jaws to aid in gripping items. The inner jaws are polished and plated just like the rest of the tool.

I give these a one star because they are significantly different from what Amazon is claiming them to be.

There are many uses for which these tweezers would be fine but I expected and needed a gradually tapering sharp pointed tip and think I have every right to expect one from the way this item is described. I also think the tips of the tool should make contact at the very end and not back almost a sixteenth of an inch.

Unfortunately I cannot find another set of locking tweezers with the kind of tips I need so I'll have to get out the grinder and see if I can grind these down to make them serviceable.
Nice

Works very nicely. I think I will end up ordering the longer pair also. Great for holding jump stitches to cut on machine embroidery pieces.
The best pair of tweezers I own

I use these for rebuilding pocket watches. I have several other pair but go back to these whenever I have precision parts to pick up. The ends are ground to a fine point and come together perfectly. The only downside is the self closing spring is a little strong for delicate parts -so you have to moderate the pressure to ensure you don't damage the parts.
good quality tweezers

I needed some good clamping style tweezers and these fit the bill. They are heavy duty not cheap pakistani/china junk.
