The pickup itself is a good pickup; the only downside is that requires tools attach and detach it from your instrument, so if you switch instruments, you need some down time. If you switch instruments during a show, you'll need a separate pick-up on each fiddle.
However, I recommend that you buy just the pick-up and not the pre-amp. I have written a review of the pre-amp on the page where it is sold alone; check it out if you want to know why I advise against getting it. Get a different pre-amp.

Barcus Berry 3110 Clamp-On Bridge Violin Piezo Pickup
Recommended to me by a well known professsional fiddler. Very easy installation, superb true reproduction, and avoids audio feedback. Allows audio engineers and board operators to adjust gain without picking up adjacent performer's instruments and/or voice.
Wireless operation avoids getting tangled in cables. This is especially useful in high energy performances where the fiddler may move about the stage (or even into the audience) freely.

Great product as add-on sound pickup and preamp added to acoustic violin. Bridge pick-up can easily be added or removed as desired. Works much better than a microphone.
