It seems to adhere really well with little to no prep. The better the prep work the better the coverage and the smoother it is when it dries. Be very careful to not get this product on anything that you don't want dyed silver. I recommend gloves as it was also hard to get off of skin when it was wet or dry. All in all, a good product that I recommend for containing rust and keep it from worsening or spreading though it is a little pricey.

The easiest and best way to handle rusty steel. The inside of model T tire rims are notorious for rusting. I wire brushed the loose rust and painted them with Rust Bullet and my previous experience tells me they won't rust again. Every time I pass a house with a rusting roof I want to stop and tell them about moisture cured urethane -Aluthane or Rust Bullet.
Smooth penetrating paint

I used the Paint with a brush, it went one smooth. The paint has a good body to it not thin or runny. I ground and sanded rusty area's and then painted. Paint seemed to penetrate the rust effectively and dried out well. Would recommend this paint be sure to use disposable gloves and keep off skin. It is tough to get off.
