My cat LOVES this carrier. I had previously used an old-school hard plastic carrier with the metal cage-bar gate. Even with a fleece in that one, she hated it. Then I got her this one before a long road trip. I left it out on the floor for a few weeks prior to the trip for her to acclimate to it. I often would find her sitting in it by choice. Now that we're on the road and the carrier is in use, both she and I are so grateful for it. I really like the fact that I can secure the carrier in the car by running the seat belt through the specifically designed strap on one side. I haven't tried the shoulder strap, but I have liked using the regular handles to carry it on my shoulder like a purse so that I can hold it close to my body and keep an arm under it just in case some strap were to fail. This position also allows me to carry her and have both hands free. I had been concerned that she would rip (intentionally or by accident) the netting on the sides, but it's this thick rubbery material and even though she's put her claws in it once or twice, it is not at risk of being ripped. For sizing considerations, my cat is 14 lbs. She is comfy semi-stretched out in it. She can't sit upright in the carrier, but she can do the "cat loaf" low seated position, and she can comfortably curl up to sleep. Highly recommend this carrier.

Its a great carrier. Unfortunately my shih tzu outgrew it. We travel by airplane 2-3 times per year and always bring our dog with us. This was an excellent carrier when he was a puppy. This year when we took it out to go on our family vacation we realized he was too big for it. We bought the next size up, and were very scared about it because it wouldn't fit completely underneath the seat in front of us, so we bought seats in first class which have more legroom. Thankfully there were no issues.
My furbaby is very spoiled, so I wouldn't be giving this a five star rating if I didn't absolutely love the product. I'm giving the carrier, and the company for that matter (Sherpa) a five star because it's made out of quality material, our dog loves the bedding at the bottom.
My purchase advice to everyone:
Our shih tzu is 12 pounds and this carrier is too small for him. It was fine for him when we traveled last May, when he was still a puppy.
Only buy the medium size carrier if you have a dog under 10 pounds, and not very long or tall.
I would do some comparison at a pet store between the medium size and large size carrier before deciding which one fits best.
Pro for the medium is that almost every airline will accept it. The large one we had no issue Delta first class, but I wouldn't try taking that to the economy seats.

Great carrier. I decided to go with the large, we were able to fit our "thick" 27 lb. pug in with no issues flying Southwest. He had space to turn and lie down but I don't think a pet any larger would fit. For reference the little guy is 22 inches long (excluding tail) and 14 inches high. We did start training him to get in a few weeks before travel so that he'd be ok in there for a couple hours, this step is highly recommended. We did not see any zipper failure as some have experienced. The bed was very stiff but seemed comfortable, the carrier held its shape when carrying nicely.

The attached picture says it all: our 17lb cat willingly hanging out in his carrier. We decided to order this one because we needed something with a top load option. We used to struggle with getting this strong little guy inside our old plastic carrier, but were able to get him in the first time with minimal struggle. He's a large cat, but fits in perfectly with plenty of room to shift around and switch position. I'm a 5'3" female and found this much less cumbersome to carry than the awkward plastic carriers, and the shoulder strap is a welcome option.

I used this on Southwest Airlines with my mini schnauzer ! No one even noticed I had a dog inside . The airline didn't even question the bag . My dog was able to turn around in it but not literally stand up unless the top zipper was open ,which no one even checks. It fits perfect under your seat . I highly recommend to familiarize your dog with the carrier weeks or days before flying . My schnauzer did amazing and slept most of the time on my direct flights ! The bag is comfortable to put over your shoulder but after a while carrying my 15 pound pup you get a little tired (obviously ) . I will continue to use this travel carrier for all of our future travels with my mini schnauzer !!
