It works. I'm not going to gush about it like some of the other reviewers since it is still a tedious process. I was removing twin pinstripes on a large SUV that is about 15 years old. I found that heating the stripes with a heat gun and slowly peeling them was the fastest way to get them off the vehicle. This wheel, however, proved extremely useful in removing the remaining adhesive and also removed the thinner of the two stripes -- albeit slowly. Worth it, but hardly the life-altering tool some imply. On a related note, I tried a cheaper wheel from another company and it was useless. In this case the more expensive product is the better choice.

WOW! Amazing! I tried EVERYTHING to remove the graphics off a 10-year old Yamaha boat. They were sun-baked and faded. I tried to peel them and they just flaked apart. Scrapers were useless. Chemical had no effect. I read about these 3M wheels online and thought I'd try one as I was desperate. I was shocked at how easily they "erased" the decals right off the boat! They even removed the residue. I'll never use anything else for this type of task. These decals were HUGE, and i got each one off in less than an hour each.

A few tips - Follow the directions and move the wheel INTO the decal being removed in a linear motion. Use the lowest speed that gives results. The wheel will last much longer.

BE CAREFUL on white, or light colored gel coat. It WILL scorch if you aren't careful. Don't stop on any point or you run the risk of scorching. Keep the wheel moving.

The wheel get very hot. Don't touch it if you can avoid it. I cooled mine off with water occasionally to preserve it a bit. I think this helped.

Use a corded drill motor, or have plenty of batteries on hand.

Take your time, go slow at first and get used to the wheel. After you get used to how it works, you can move faster. Good luck!

This bad boy really works! My window visor on my 2005 Silverado was about to come off so I ripped it off the truck before I lost it. Luckily it came off in one piece. I initially bought a heat gun and plastic razor blades and lets just say my shoulders were on fire after about 30 mins and not really getting anywhere quickly. Checked a few forums and someone mentioned this item. This thing really works!! I hooked it into my cordless black & decker drill and away we go. I think in about 10 mins it got about 95% of the glue off. The rest was goo gone and elbow grease but this made my life so much easier. The right tools makes such a difference.

It did the job as advertised, but like other reviewers said, it makes an incredible mess, and isn't easy. I took off two eight inch vinyl stripes from my trunk that had faded and cracked to the point where trying to peel them off with a heat gun was nearly impossible, and using an adhesive remover and plastic scraper, it took me about two hours to remove a tiny corner while scratching the crap out of the clearcoat. This was my last resort before paying someone, and I'm happy it worked. For smaller graphics jobs, this would be a godsend. It took me about an hour to remove both stripes on the trunk and I was thankful for my corded drill, because I'm skeptical a battery operated one would have done the job without a break for recharging even with the extra battery. It did leave a residue like an eraser, but it was easily removable with some adhesive remover after the job. I was kind of shocked that it really doesn't do anything to the paint while basically grinding the vinyl off. Also, do heed the warning that it's only to be used on metal surfaces. My car has a plastic spoiler, and I barely nicked it with the turning wheel and it instantly removed the paint (fortunately, it was easy to touch up). It is labor intensive, and I wouldn't want to have to remove an entire stripe kit with this, but if peeling/scraping fails, this is a good last resort.

Wow this is some kinda wonder wheel, you could pick at the adhesive all day long and pull you hair out going at snails pace pickin and grinnin no pain no gain kinda thing ya know.
But Wow the guys at 3M really knows there bussiness when it come to this wheel this must be the cadillac of adhesive removers, no more snail pace for me i'm got progress galore, this thing fits my 3/8 drill just right, at first thought wouldn't do well without variable speed drill but turns to work very well with or without variable speed.
However I did have concerns as to whether the adhesive and the wheel material may be toxic, that I don't know but I do still have concerns, one should wear respirator always with particulates.
I'm going to attempt to remove some pinstripe i'm sure i'll be successful, Thanks 3M for your innovative approach to this problem yes, you deserve that patent, Thanks
