We bought 15 of the black ones for both of our new decks and they are VERY NICE. If you are a picky person, you may not like it as every one of them had chips in the paint (which is easily covered with a paint pen) and/or scratches on one of the glass panels and/or chips in the glass where they inserted the glass into the top (made in China, no quality control). You can easily take this apart and move the defective panels around to the back where it shouldn't be seen. If you don't mind the slight defects, you'll LOVE this light. The metal seems to be aluminum as this is a very light, light.
