Professional grade costs more but can last longer without service
Almaden reader✓ Verified PurchaseJuly 30, 2014
Compare to the "consumer" grade valves you get a HomeDepot or Lowes, this professional grade valve costs 3 to 4 times as much, but this valve should last much longer without service. I used them to replace several 15 year old professional grade valves (a different brand) that never needed service until some of them finally started to leak, and I could not find replacement parts for the old valve. Based on my experience with the old professional grade valves in my backyard, what a gardener told me he always uses, and the valve design differences between consumer and professional grade valves, I decided it is worth the extra cost if they are likely to go for 10 years without needing any service. This is especially true because water pressure in my area is always high, and consumer grade valves may need services every few years.
