A nice set, but will slightly deform after was wailing on stuck AR front sight pins
Tom✓ Verified Purchase•February 5, 2017
You have seen the videos. Time to remove the pins...put the front sight on the round orange thing...whack whack...the pins are out. However, if young Hercules put your pins in at Hartford, you may be in for some frustrating whacking time. I wailed away long enough to slightly flatten the punch. Perhaps says more about hardness of Colt pins than quality of the drive set. This was a true test of the drive...held up otherwise just fine.
Used on some pin joints on Voyager class evac cybertron ...

Used on some pin joints on Voyager class evac cybertron. It removed the pins perfectly. I don't use a hammer I took the pin punch on my work bench an pushed through the pin
NOTE: its very important when removing pins from toys if thats what you are using it for to make sure you are not pushing from the knurled side. It typically has a star type pattern or rougher looking then the smooth side. If you do this you will loosen the joint and may even crack the hole around the pin.
I can not help with regards to pins in guns or sights. I only purchased for use on toys to fix broken ones.

Great product

As others have said...great product. Very solid and well constructed. I bought three different sets. Two steel (one is a set of extended drive length punches for really long pins) and a brass set (for work on guns where there's risk of doing damage if you screw up). I've already used these twice now and was very happy. I took off one star because of the packaging or case. These came in a cheap soft plastic case. It's okay, but I don't expect it will last. Plus it looks totally different. The brass ones came in a very nice nylon case that will last forever. The longer extended drive ones didn't come with a case at all. They were just in a box wrapped in paper. Seemed odd. Love to see them provide nice nylon cases for all of them! Sorry, I like to be organized with my tools.
These are a little expensive compared to other brands, but worth the money in my opinion.

My second set. A must have.

I bought a set of these punches a while back. I absolutely love them. I build guns and do gun smithing on the side and I wanted a second set to keep in my truck for when I visit friends and have to work on a firearm. The only thing is it doesn't include a 5/64 punch for the gas block roll pin but not an issue. You can always pick one up. But these punches have held up great. If not misused they will out last you. I have read about people breaking these punches and that will happen. Things break no matter how much you spend. But these are great punches and if you spend the money now you will for sure avoid the frustation.
Don't know why - it is the best!

I am very happy to have this set.
I am not a professional user. This is another wonder tool set Starrett made. I used it to take out a roller pin from the DI gas tube. In three taps, the pin came out.
FYI - Earlier, I bought a set of pin punches which costed ~1/3 of this Starret set. It was bent when I just rest my rubber mallet. With that bad expereiece, I decided to buy a brand I can trust and count on. My other Starrett tools were a set of engineering squares and two straight rulers with beveled side (12" and 24").
Follow-up: I found the 1/16 inch punch bent. The replacement is on its way. I might have driven it too fast or force I applied may not be straight.
