Been buying this for 10 years

I have a white-eyed conure which I adopted almost 10 years ago. She was discovered half-starved in a tree outside the office where I work, and I ended up taking her home and eventually adopting her when the owner couldn't or wouldn't be found. This has been her primary food the entire time, supplemented with healthy snacks that I eat as well, such as unsalted cashews, Special K, wheat germ, quinoa, spinach, and sips of my plant protein shakes which contain blueberries or blackberries as well as a little flaxseed or red palm oil. She enjoys her snacks but the Harrison's is what I put in her food cup, and I've never had a problem getting her to eat it. She hasn't had any health problems in the 10 years I've had her, and I'm looking forward to many more healthy years I hope.
Best diet out there for parrots
California Mom✓ Verified Purchase•October 2, 2017
This really is the best parrot diet out there. I used to foster amazons for a parrot rescue and this was their number one diet recommendation. It's hard to transition seed-fed parrots onto this, but once you do, you are SET. The only issue I have is at times I THINK the bag is sealed but it's not. The pellets can go stale if they are exposed to air for extended time. At that time, my yellow nape will stop eating them. And these are not cheap so it's frustrating. So now I just "seal" the bag AND roll it up and use a heavy duty clip at the top to make sure it is closed.
My Parrot Loves It

We started giving this to our African Gray Parrot many years ago. He's always been a finicky eater, and would never touch the various, supposedly nutritious bird-kibbles bits included in most parrot seed mixes. However, after a short introductory period (we reduced the seed and peanuts in his dishes, and offered mostly the Harrison's for a few days), he started eating it readily. This is now his main food, supplemented with peanuts, some mixed seed, and fruits/veg that he will eat. He's nearly 45 years old, and the vet says he's in tip-top shape.
and he is a little happier altogether. I would recommend this product to anyone ...

My 26 year old African grey Chipper loves the Harrison's High Potency Course Food. I switched him off of seeds about a year ago when I got him. Since then he has gained a little weight( he was thin), feathers have brightened, and he is a little happier altogether. I would recommend this product to anyone with a parrot. While It is a little higher in price than some others I want the best for my parrot whos lifespan ranges from 50-75 years old.
The product is of good quality, and I like them too

The product is of good quality, and I like them too, but my birds not so much. I made the bird muffins with them, and they don't like those either. I think it is unrealistic to expect your bird is going to eat just this every day. They like variety, just like we do. I had been giving my parrots organic cooked frozen vegetables (they don't like raw) mixed with cooked grains that I mix together from the health food store bins, cooked navy beans, scrambled eggs on occasion, and nuts and sunflower seeds. You cannot force them to eat something they don't want, so I give them what they eat. If I supplement it with fruits & veggies, as recommended they just eat the fruits and veggies. A nice idea, but they play with it more than eat it, and it is too expensive for that.
