My new favorite shave cream. The performance of this cream is without parallel. It is easy to whip up a moist, cushiony lather (take your time and add driblets of water as you go).
The scent is fantastic, although initially I didn't much care for it. I thought it was a little too "old man" like. However, it is nothing like Clubman Pinaud (which is a *very* european old man scent) The scent is very complex, with multiple layers and lasts about half a day and has grown on me. By the way, the scent when shaving is a little different than directly from the tub. This doesn't have a strong sandalwood scent, but it is there. If a strong sandalwood scent is what you crave, I suggest Proraso Red cream or soap.
I don't find this cream leaves much residue behind. Best of all, this cream gives me the best shaves and its cushion (protection from the blade) allows me to use a slightly sharper blade than normal.

Great shave soap lathering cream for shaving brush

Great classic smell, to me I'd describe it as smelling a bit like a bar of soap. I never previously used shave soaps with the brush before but I think there is a thing to be said for the smaller bubbles they create allowing a closer shave with your modern 5 blade razor like I use. I previously resorted to the best I could find which was a foaming gel shave. I read so many reviews of this brand being the best and the standard and such a good smell. I was expecting something interesting smell wise "sandalwood" but to me it just smells like a bar of ivory soap. Either way this isn't the soap pucks but a cream, it only takes a little on the tip of your finger put in the brush with some hot water to work up a nice lather, more than needed and you will get a nice smooth nic free shave out of this. I was impressed by what it does, not how it smells because I was expecting something a bit more exotic I guess.
I have always loved Sandalwood fragrance until now

First time trying Taylor of Old Bond Street. I have always loved Sandalwood fragrance until now. This does not smell like any Sandalwood I have ever smelled before. It smells like a very heavy "clean and floral" smell like an industrial cleaner (Okay little exaggeration, but hey it is directly under your nose). Okay the smell made me take away 3 stars. BUT this is the best shaving cream I have ever tried. I have spent really good money on others that are even more costly but are no where near the quality! I use a regular (club) safety razor and I got the second closest shave of my life (straight razor shave from barber in NYC is still the champion). While other have gotten me close to this shave, the other felt like I also removed a layer of skin in the process to get there. My skin feels awesome after using Taylor...The cream is so perfect I give it 7 Stars and less the 3 for this smell it gets a 4 star. I will now start ordering every scent until I can find a masculine scent that works for me. I would recommend Taylor of Old Bond Street Shaving Cream to everyone, just not the Sandalwood scent.
The best I have used thus far, A MUST TRY!

Got into wet shaving a few years ago (thanks to Art of Shaving). I initially purchased every fragrance AoS had to offer until they became boring and costly. I then began to search out other high quality cream manufacturers from around the globe and learned that AoS was like wet shaving with training wheels. I have since purchased and used products from Sir Hare, Proraso, DR Harris, Henry Cavendish, Vikings Blade, St James, Blades Grimm and a handful of others. I can easily say that Taylor of Bond Street is far and away my favorite cream with their Sandalwood being my absolute favorite fragrance.
Cream usage is minimal, the fragrance is strong, the lather is SUPER THICK and whips up quickly. I have sensitive skin and usually dont like heavy fragrances but it is okay on my face, no reaction. It protect my skin nicely and leaves a super close shave with baby soft skin. Only downside is that it can be challenging to wash off completely, recommend as a pre-shower shave. This is my new standard and I will be purchasing many other fragrances of theirs to see if they smell and function the same.
If you have had the same experiences, I would be happy to learn if you have found anything better?

I love the smell and quality of this shaving cream. I like the fact that it comes in its plastic container. It eliminates the need to get a "bowl". I first wash my face with hot water and soap to get rid of excess oil. There are pre-shave creams and soaps available but I haven't found the need to use them. With my face washed with soap and slightly wet, I gently run my badger brush with hot water and squeeze the water out of it so it's not too wet. I then scrape of a little amount of the shaving cream from the the plastic container; worth repeating "a small amount" and lather my face. It gets foamed up thick and nice with a small amount and then I'm ready for my shave. I don't rinse the badger brush. After my face shave I use the reminder of the cream on my brush and I lather up one more time and do a clean up once over. Great cream at a great price. Happy with the purchase. Thank you.
