I made this purchase due to a chronic wound on my Mom's tail bone and within days the wound began to heal and to date is healed. I highly recommend for anyone caring for their loved ones who is using a commode and underweight. As we age we lose fat and puts us at risk for breakdown on boney prominences. Thank you for making this great product.

It's a thick, strong, well-made padding, just as advertised. I didn't visualize the thickness properly from the provided image, though, and realized when I got it that it was so thick that the seat no longer can stay upright for when I stand for the number 1 position. Not a problem, but I then realized that I could use the cushion as a back support instead, for my drafting chair. I'm using it right now, and it's extremely comfortable.
I also felt that due to my boney rear end, it wasn't quite as soft as I needed - my case is unique, I'm old and it doesn't take much for my legs to go numb sitting there. But for anyone else, I think this cushion would be fine. Now I just need to look for a really really really soft cushion.

Edit: I think I may use this as a cushion for my work from home desk when I am more recovered. Since I am so tender after the surgery, this is not a practical option for the toilet or desk chair at this time.

First, I figure I should identify that the product (I got the 4-inch cushion) just didn't fit my particular needs. IMO, that does not warrant a bad review. The 4 out of 5, is because I cannot return this unused item (though I get why they may not take it back). I would strongly recommend asking questions if you are not sure. I had to have my surgery the following day and didn't have enough time to do very thorough research.

(Potential) PROS:
- Much more firm than expected
- Gives a lot of height if you are tall without discomfort
- appeared to stay in place
- Durable (well-made, doesn't seem to be flimsy)

Cons:
- non-returnable items
- opening to the toilet is too small
- did not flatten enough to feel confident I would not make a mess
- doesn't seem practical for post-surgical use if you need a cushion

This product just didn't work for my situation. I just had surgery where I needed something soft. I took a chance based off of others' reviews saying it squished down too much. That is what I was looking for. Unfortunately, as someone else mentioned, the opening to the toilet was too small. I felt like because I was not flat enough, I was going to urinate all over the seat and potentially get some on myself.

This MAY work for a male who can possibly aim more strategically while sitting, but not sure how it's might work for bowel movements without making a huge mess. I needed something post-surgical, but this was not it for me.

Don't buy this! Don't buy this! I should have listened to other reviewers' comments. The foam used in this seat cushion is of such low density and so light and cheap that it provides no support or comfort as a cushion. It collapses completely when you sit on it so that it has the same support as just sitting on a magazine or newspaper. Totally worthless for its intended use. I am sending mine back.

First up, get the 4" for maximum comfort. This cushion works as advertised and helps older folks settle in to the toilet to do their business without the hard toilet seat causing pain issues. But that is where the fun ends.
For some reason, the vertical seam of the cushion is right where you do your business. So, that means that some poo will get into the seam and it is a nightmare to clean out.
Other then that, it works well and keeps grandma happy.
