I was looking for a basic scale that is highly accurate, and this one seems to be the winner. I've used it for a little over a week now and it seems to be accurate within .2 pounds, which is more than satisfying.

BEWARE if you are a man or woman and have any sort of muscle on you this scale will not read an accurate body fat % reading. I am 6'1 197lbs. I had my body fat % professionally measured. I was 9% body fat when I got checked. This scale has me at 22%. The company does say on their disclamer that it reads accurate for a standard person. But what is standard to them? Kinda left open for interpretation right? When I went to return the scale being I now have zero use for it. The company has it where you can not return the item. I will be taking that up with Amazon. If you are a healthy male of female with a few extra muscular pounds this thing is worthless.

I purchased my Tanita BF679W Scale more than eight years ago. I have been using it pretty much once-a-day, and have had to replace the batteries only a couple (possibly 3) times.
From my experience and observations, my scale has been good at measuring weight for all the time I've had it.
The weight is consistent. If I weigh myself several times in a row, I see the same number each time. There are, of course, variations throughout the day. I try to weigh myself at the same time and under the same conditions each day (that is, before I've eaten in the morning).
When I am weighed at visits to my physician, the weight at the doctor's is always comparable to the weight on my Tanita BF679W. (It is not the same, but I am not weighed right after weighing myself at home. And at the doctor's I am weighed with my clothes on, so the number is a few pounds higher than when I weigh myself at home.)
I don't have a way to test the body-fat and water measurements.
But as a scale that can dependably and reliably tell me if I am maintaining my weight or gaining or losing, this scale has worked well with once-a-day use for more than 8 years.

This is our second Tanita scale and we love it. We had our first one for well over a decade and then it stopped working. We got a lot of mileage out of it. I was happy to discover that we could order the same exact model we had before!

This scale not only tells you your wait, it also tells you your body fat percentage and water intake percentage. These are all very handy things to know.

Plus, it's eight to use her function so two people can use it on a daily basis or weekly basis. I'm glad Tanita still makes this same exact model. Thank you!

Great quality product! I've had this for about 6 years now, and after multiple accidents and heavy items dropped on this scale, with a cracked screen and most of the features other than weighing yourself not working anymore, this scale is still very precise! We have recently purchased another one, a little cheaper, but lighter, prettier and newer, and Tanita is much more accurate even as beat up as it is right now. Oh, and since the purchase day I haven't replaced the batteries, yet. Maybe those features will start working again, if I put new batteries? Gotta check. It really is a very good product.
