I hate plastic

Wooden cabinet? No. It's plastic. I have an WR-22 which I love. It's black with a black WOODEN cabinet. I haven't even plugged this unit in and I won't. Because it's plastic, it's going back to Amazon.
Display Too Bright, no battery backup - Be Warned !!

Display and NO battery backup of settings or clock !!
Thought I could live with display, but even on 2nd lowest (1st you can not see at night unless inches away-very dim) it is still too bright.
Not having a battery or some form of keeping clock functions and settings even for short power glitches is just too painful, tedious to set up thing ONCE, but again and again - I am NOT willing !!
Sadly it sounds nice enuf, has ALL the FUNDAMENTAL things needed for a good or great device, but these 2 issues make it a RETURN !

Great radio for table top listening for talk radio. Acceptable for music too. Good frequency range, crisp frequency response, excellent receptivity. Would be nice in stereo, but still love it for what I use it for.

Fantastic little radio. We knocked our Bose radio/CD player off the counter and rendered it dead. Not having been a big fan of this Bose radio from the beginning, we decided to purchase the Sangean WR-2 AM/FM Tabletop Radio. The sound quality is excellent -- especially for the size. It sounds every bit as good as the Bose (which was about four times more expensive.) My only second-thought about this radio is that the stereo mode is only effective with headphones (obvious, since there is only one speaker) and, although the sound quality is excellent, I would have to believe it would be even more excellent if there were two speakers which would allow for stereo mode. Likely, of course, that would require a slightly larger radio, when one of its features is the smallness. Either way, this radio, as is, is definitely 5 stars.
