I've always bought the same filter from amazon, whenever its due for an oil change i just click "buy it again" and im set. well this time there's an issue, the filter i received DID NOT work. theres a physical difference with the filter when compared to a straight out the dealer filter. its also missing the tabs on the inside that push down on the oil tube. There was no way that this filter was going to work. others have already posted pictures with the same issues

Always use motocraft oil and fuel filters on the 6.0 Power stroke! It's very important to regularly change the oil and filters on these trucks to keep the injector system happy. Saving a few dollars here is not worth the risk. This is the genuine Ford replacement and fits perfectly.

I bought this as part of my regular oil change for my 6.0, same as last time. I couldn't figure out why I couldn't get this filter to fit and began to look closer at it. I compared it to my used filter and noticed that this part lacks the nibs on the underside which actuate the plunger in the filter housing (see pics). I also noticed that this filter was shorter than the true motorcraft (again, see pics). There was also an already posted review that described the exact same problem, guess I didn't see it before I bought. There are also a few other little things that I noticed (smell of the material, o-ring isn't as pliable as motorcraft, filter is shrink wrapped, how the real part snaps into the cap) that would have never occurred to me if not for the fit problem. I ended up going to a local auto shop for an actual motorcraft, which is the comparison you see in the photos, which went in without a problem. It's pretty disconcerting that Amazon would allow a vendor to jeopardize $6k engines with knockoff filters when there was already a prior review stating this problem. I will definitely be seeking a refund.

DO NOT buy, it's a knock off designed to look identical. Had me fooled at first but when I tried to install it the filter would not seat all the way down. After researching on YouTube I found a video explaining why. True OEM motorcraft filters have three points inside the top of the filter that matches to the plastic tube/post. Without these it is impossible to install filter, this filter is flat and apparently a knock off in a motorcraft box!

I bought this for my 2004 F350 6.0 diesel. The problem was not something wrong with the product but something someone else might encounter. This is a stock filter, which means you should have the stock cap as well. Otherwise if you have the taller oil cap it will not work right and filter the oil as designed. It will also mess with your oil pressure and give you false readings. So be sure your oil cap is the shorter one, and not the longer one. Even the inside of the caps are designed different. Hope what I wrote helps.
